LT had 5 seasons of a 4.0 or better YPC. T.O has had 9 seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards. I think T.O has been the better player but LT was the heart of his team for a long time and is thus more valuable.

TO has 1006 receptions for 14951 yards, and 144 TDs, over 14 years.

LT has 12490 yards rush, 530 receptions, 3955 yards receiving for 16445 total yards, and 153 TDs, over 9 seasons.

So, LT has 1,545 more total yards and 9 more total TDs than TO with 5 less seasons.

And just to look at season averages:

TO averaged 71.85 receptions, 1067.92 receiving yards, and 10.28 TDs a season.
LT averaged 320 carries, 58.88 receptions, 1827.22 total yards, and 17 TDs a season.

TO had pro bowl QBs throwing to him. And before someone goes off and says that TO made the QBs "Pro Bowl QBs", here is the breakdown of total pro bowls of QBs that played with and without TO.

Steve Young: 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998
Jeff Garcia: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2007
Donnovan McNabb: 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009
Tony Romo: 2006, 2007, 2009

Between those 4 QBs, there are 20 pro bowls. TO was on their team for 9 of those seasons (bold faced).

I'll take LT over TO.

yup. It's a 'what have you done for me lately?' type world we live in. But to put it in perspective a bit, last year was not a good year by LT's standards. STILL, he only had one less TD than all three of our RBs combined.

His 2006 season inflates his stats quite a bit... or perhaps just balances out the average seasons he's had the past two years (albeit injury plagued years, and 2008 was only average by his standards). Still, 2006 was probably the greatest performance of any single player in a regular season.

But yeah. This is a very legitimate debate. Hard for me to choose, so I'd have to throw T.O.'s issues into the mix. I'll take the good ol' texas guy.

As TO would be, and should be, if the HOF was actually about what a player did on the field and not rather the media personally liked them or not.

Say what you want about TO off the field and how selfish he can be, I wouldn't defend him against any of those as they're well deserved complaints, but being in the Hall of Fame is about what a player did on the football field.

In the history of the game, by the time TO retires, there will be only 1, or 2, WR's ahead of him in every major statistical catagory for his position.

That's not just good, that's not just great, that's Hall of Fame worthy.


I like me some LT though as well so I think they're both great but I'll take TO in the long haul.

I guess I can give a slight edge to TO. Because he has shown to be more of a difference maker especially in big games where Tomlinson is hurt sitting on the sidelines with his visor helmet on. Also I wish would stop calling Tomlinson 'LT'. There is only one LT and it isn't Tomlinson.
