Default N.F.L. scouts have taken notice of Louisiana Tech quarterback Ross Jenkins.

All of the conditions are right for Jenkins to have a big senior season if he can stay a step ahead of backup Steven Ensminger, a transfer from Auburn.

The Bulldogs open the 2010 season on Sept. 3 against Grambling State at the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, La.

NFL scouts have taken notice of Jenkins, who continues a proud Louisiana Tech quarterback tradition that includes NFL Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw, Tim Rattay and Luke McCown.

Jenkins passed for 2,095 yards, 17 touchdowns and five interceptions for the Bulldogs to increase his career totals to 3,276 yards, 24 touchdowns and eight interceptions; he tallied all but 26 of those yards over the past two seasons.
