Default Colt is a joke/ Bradford will be a stud

Sam Bradford makes his final argument

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 2, 2010 8:52 PM ET
The Rams have found their starting quarterback.

We don't know when Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo will announce anything officially, but rookie Sam Bradford seemingly ended the team's quarterback debate with a sharp drive on Thursday night.

Bradford finished 6-of-6 for 68 yards and a touchdown against the Ravens reserves, his second strong preseason effort in a row. One of his completions was a 36-yarder up the sideline to Danny Amendola, who made a great adjustment on the ball to make the catch.

It's uncertain whether Rams quarterback A.J. Feeley will even be healthy enough to start in Week One, but we can't imagine it makes a difference now. Bradford finishes the preseason 33-of-55 for 338 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Colt McCoy has a rough start

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on September 2, 2010 8:27 PM ET
Colt McCoy was excited to get extended playing time in the fourth preseason game so that he could change some of the negative impressions from his first training camp.

So far, it's only getting worse.

McCoy fumbled his first snap from center, turning the ball over. He took a sack on third-and-one on his second drive when there was an open man underneath.

It will be the last we see of McCoy for a while, but he doesn't have to worry about his roster spot. The Cleveland Plain-Dealer has confirmed he will make the team.

UPDATE: Rookie running back Montario Hardesty had no such tough start. In his first preseason snaps, he carried the ball three straight times for 13 yards, including a one-yard touchdown. He showed great foot quickness and power on the plays, carrying defenders with him.

UPDATE II: McCoy did a great job bouncing back after his slow start, completing all 13 of his passes for 131 yards before leaving.

The 13-yard Hardesty drive was the only Browns touchdown with McCoy, but the rookie third-round quarterback made a lot of composed, accurate underneath throws. It will give him something positive to remember the preseason by.

Two things here:

1) According to the article, McCoy played well.

2) Wrong zone.

WHAT? 13-13 for an average of over 10ypc... that's not dumping the ball off. Seems you are just looking for a reason to bash. 13-13 is just tough to bash.

I'm not sure how you could come away with that impression of McCoy after reading this.....unless you stopped reading halfway.

He's sucked so far, yeah, but this does nothing but improve his outlook.

From what I've seen from Bradford he is legit. Looking like a future solid starter minimum barring injuries

Bradford was the #1 overall pick. There was consensus that he was an NFL-ready QB. It is no surprise that he is performing well, and I wish him the best because the kid has talent. The Browns drafted Colt as a project QB, hoping to groom him over 2-3 years. He was not expected to be a starter. Only an ignorant OU fan would put up such a strawman argument to make him feel better about his school. Maybe you are mad that Colt was 3-1 against your Sooners?

Oh...I was just curious because I live in FL too, and that wasn't one of the games that was televised where I am.

We got the real QB from a Texas, non-overrated, school.
