Lynyrd Skynyrd(the group)....
You like rock? You like Lynyrd
You like country? You like Lynyrd
You like metal? You like Lynyrd
You like rap? You may like Lynyrd.
The groups music reached across genre borders, everyone likes a Lynyrd Skynyrd song.

ill think about it some more but the first name that popped in my mind was Sinatra.
I'm sure a lot of people will say Elvis, Micheal Jackson, cash, Beatles, bob dylan and the rest of the usual suspects
It is not the waitress's fault!

What are we talking here? Mainstream success? Would it have to be a band that's been around forever? Or long since gone?
The Beatles are an obvious choice.
There are a ton of less obvious choices though. What about bands like Opeth or Porcupine Tree? Not mainstream in any way really, but extremely talented and have been around in one form or another since 1990 and 1987 respectively.
Tough question.

I mean what do you go by? Personal Opinion? Or something substantial? If you are going to go by things substantial you pretty much have to go Jackson, Beatles, Elvis.. in that order probably.

These are actually two different questions.
Based on the word entertainer it would have to be Michael Jackson. Dude, knew how to put on a show.
If I could see any musical act it would be the Beatle or Elvis, but at the height of their popularity. I'd throw Johnny Cash in there as well. I also wish I could have seen the 1960's/1970's editions of The Who. I saw them recently (about two years ago). They were great, but only two of the original members are left. I know it's the main two, but its not the same. They're old now. haha.

This is a tough question. The two best concerts I ever saw were both Garth Brooks. He is a fantastic showman.
Johnny Cash was not a great singer, but he could really move an audience because his songs all had messages.
Elvis and Michael were global phenomenons.
Frank Sinatra probably had the most pure voice.
The Beatles as a group had very real power.
As far as I wish I could see...Billie Holliday. I love her voice.

I would say Elvis or the Beatles. Probably the Beatles.
Led Zeppelin would have been a good choice too.
Jimmy Hendrix would be good too, but I would rather see the others I listed first.

Since you qualified the question by using the word "entertainer" I will say Michael Jackson. But I never wanted or wished I could see him.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
