Default Anyone been to Japan?

Getting married, planning a honeymoon to Japan and wondering if anyone has been there and has any tips? Plan is to go from October 15th till the end of October, visit Tokyo for a few days and Kyoto for a few days and then take the train around and visit some of the other places like Hiroshima, Osaka, etc. Don't think we'll make it to North Japan.

My main issue is I'm not sure how easy it is to find a place to stay without booking well in advance. I'd prefer to be able to play it by ear other than Tokyo and Kyoto.

Thanks
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Wow, that sounds like a great idea for a honeymoon!!!

"Hey seetie...I have an idea! Lets fly 14 hours to one of the most densely populated areas on earth, not make any hotel reservations, then, visit a couple of sites where a few hundred thousand people were instantaneously vaporized!?"

What'd are you gonna "plan" for your 1st anniversary...The Bataan Death March Tour by moped?

You want to come? We could use someone to carry our luggage.

Actually, I'm leaving for Japan tomorrow. I will be there for two weeks. I will spend one week with my in-laws and my wife's brother's wedding. The other week we will go to Kyoto and kanazawa and see some friends in other cities.

We booked hotels on-line in Kyoto and Kanazawa. You want a hotel near the train stations. We also got a week rail pass. For $300 you can ride the trains as much as you want, anywhere you want. Good deal, saves money.

The tickets to Japan are expensive $900-1000/each. Food is reasonable as long as you eat Japanese-style food. Western food is expensive.

I'd avoid Tokyo. It is just a big city. Try to get to Kyoto, Kanazawa, Kobe, etc.

I used to fly for Evergreen Airlines. I was in Narita 2x each week. Most of the time was spent in Tokyo because turning our birds was a 2 day event, so we had to stick close to our base.

LOVED the place.

Tokyo is way crowded but its an amazing city and some wonderful wonderful ladies live there.

But...you are going on your honeymoon, so ummmmm..yeah.

Kobe is excellent and the Sukiyaki is Dee Lishus.

Enjoy your stay. Check out some of the old temples. Pretty cool places if you like old history.

I've got a prayer on my desk. It says, "Dear Lord, I pray that my place will never be with the cold, timid souls who do not compete yet criticize, for they never know or feel success or failure."

They were all MAC flights so no passengers, only freight. The Japan runs were contracts for JAL.

I really enjoyed working for them.

What pantie bag?

Either way I'd like to stop at Tokyo to at least say I've been there, might not stay there long then. And yeah I'm definitely into the history of the place, we've both wanted to visit Japan for a long time so this is our chance.

Considering other options like Singapore, Bali, etc. but if we don't do it now, probably never will.

The only thing that bugs me about Japan is that yes, I like Japanese food but I'm much more into stuff you'd get in a place like Singapore, something with a little more heat/spices and more substance/influences, etc.

Met my wife teaching English in Japan. Love it there. The Yen rate is pretty horrible right now so take a lot of $$. Check out the vending machines while you're there. They're a trip. Also, the Japanese love to party. Hit some late night bars and you'll never have to buy. Must know Japanese? O-biru kudasai - Beer please. Benjo wa, doko desuka? Where's the toilet?

Seriously, knowing a little Japanese will go a long way in ensuring a good time. You don't need to know much either. Omedeto Gozaimasu!

Default Think about...

...Kyoto. Nice sites there.

Hokkaido is nice also. Tokyo is a concrete jungle, but lots to see from an urban perspective.

Best Ramen is at the train station in ***uoka.

Have a good trip.

You're going to take the train in Tokyo? Good luck!

Formerly the notorious nyc!

I've got more red flags than Soviet Russia!

There is a good chance that you don't like me, but there is a better chance that I don't care.

If I'm not insulting you, I'm probably not aware that you exist.

Jerry Jones in the draft room is suicide on the football field. The line of scrimmage is EVERYTHING. Something Jerry doesn't understand.
