It was never a good thing the Cowboys started the season 0-2.
But there were some positives coming out of it.
Nobody in the NFC East was able to forge a 2-0 start and when Dallas knocked off Houston on Sunday, it meant the Cowboys were one-game out of first place.
The Eagles sit on top at 2-1 followed by the Cowboys, Redskins and Giants at 1-2.
"[Just] trying to climb our way back up the mountain," coach Wade Phillips said. "We were only one game out from being tied for the division. The first goal is to win the division, that’s one way to get into the playoffs, win the division. We hadn’t lost any of our goals and even if we lost [to Houston] we wouldn’t have lost any of our goals. You can't climb your way back if you don’t win any games."
True.
But when the other teams in the division struggle it makes things easier.
