I wonder how old it is, to have gotten that big... or is it just a mutant, the Gheorghe Muresan of rattlers??

That snake was 7'3 in length. It said because of the way the picture was taken, the snake looks much larger than it really is.
Eastern Diamondbacks are the largest breed of Rattlers on record. They can grow as large as 8'x. This snake is large, but by no means the largest. As noted, it only looks like it's well over 10' long because of the position of the officer in the picture. If it was truly 15 foot like many hoax websites reported, that would have been all over the news just for the fact that it would be almost twice the size of the largest recorded Eastern Diamondback ever found.
