BRAD SHAM on the Bledsoe Signing--Repost.
I respect Brad Sham, and his opinions a great deal, and I know a lot of others do as well, so I thought I would post the thoughts he gave about the Bledsoe signing last night on "Outside the Lines".
Sham on, Does Bledsoe make the Cowboys a better team?
"Depends on the rest of the team. If it is like last year Bledsoe might be worse, but if it is better Bledsoe may be very good."
Sham on, Is this a pivotal change in the way Jones is approaching his relationship with Parcells?
"The National Media has wanted to make the Jerry/Bill impending rift a big headline since before Bill was even hired, when the word was out they might be talking.
The fact is there is no rift. There may be different opinions from time to time, but to say there is a rift is completely false. What this is, is that Jerry made a commitment to Parcells, and Jerry feels the only way the commitment can be succesfull is to let Bill be Bill."
Sham on, Roster Changes.
"There does need to be changes, and I think Bledsoe having seen him for the last 2 years in person, and on television has a lot left. But he is not a guy who is going to be able to sustain success if he does not have better play out of his O-Line than the Cowboys gave Testaverde last year. And if the Cowboys do not get another key WR, and I am talking about a lead dog to go along with Keyshawn, Glenn, the 2 TE's, and the improved running game, if they do not have those things Bledsoe is going to have a tough time here."
Sham on, Henson -
"If you think about what everybody said about Henson, nobody said he will not be a very good player. Everybody thinks it was a great deal to get him for a 3rd. Nobody did not say that. Now he has come here, he played no more than 8 games as a starter, he has not played in 4 years, and people now want him to jump out and be something that is unreasonable.
Now what does he got? I do not know because we have seen so little, but what I did see in Training Camp, Pre-Season, and 3 quarters, he looks like he might have something. At some point they have to find out about Henson, but it does not have to be this year."

good article, there's alot of truth in it. That is my biggest fear with Bledslow, like sham stated we must get better upfront otherwise teams will and are going to blitz the Hell out of us.

It was a bad hire period. How does somebody change a bad culture who is already part of it?

and that is why I think we have a very real possibility of not winning a game in the NFC East
The Skins blitz and blitz well so do the Eagles and the Giants...
If the Cowboys don't tighten up the o-line its over before its begun

Imo Bledsoe is comparable to Aikmam in his last few seasons. He has the ability to win for us ,But he can only be a part of the formula and cannot carry a team. The fact he is healthy is a big plus. While I would love to see Henson beat him out,Bledsoe is a good pickup especialy for the price :jints: :iggles:

I agree the Ol needs to improve. But as I recall, Vinny was sacked only like 14 times. That ranks high on the list I'm sure. I actually thought pass protection wasn't that much of a problem until we had all those injuries to the wide receivers.
Then we saw Vinny throw alot of ints. and that was because I thought he was trying to make too many plays on his own and mistakes by rookie WR's.
And the OL looked good run blocking, no doubt. JuJo didn't get all those yards on his own.
So I'm sure, with a new OL coach and probably at least one new OL player (RT) on board, we should be improved.
I would think that if we get everybody healthy on offense that was hurt last year..Parcells will keep Bledsoe trying to play ball control and keep 3rd downs short so playaction will work. That is where Bledsoe will really have opportunities to get it deep down field.
When the defense stacks the line to stop the short runs and short passing to the TE's.
I suspect Parcells will want to limit Bledsoe's passing to Aikman-like numbers like 20+ throws a game using the TE's and Key to move the chains and not expose Bledsoe to hits that a bunch of passing attempts will eventually do.
I don't think Parcells will use Bledsoe as he used him when he was young. Airing it out all the time. He'll be asking him to drive the bus and occasionally take the shots downfield when needed or presented.
All this hand-wringing about Bledsoe's weaknesses is justified, but I think Parcell's knows them better than anybody. He'll do whatever it takes to play those down and stick to what will work week in and week out.
We'll see.
Later.

With so many changes coming on D, we will better on offense because Drew won't be forced to have to pass all the time...
Bledsoe has a strong arm and with weapons like Key & Witten we should be able to make teams pay from blitzing!
With Glenn healthy and Morgan knowing the offense this year, I think we can be fine offensivley with Campbell back as well.
People like to blame Vinny, but it wasn't his fault the awfully coached D always seemed to let the other offense score so easily...
Parcells taking over on D and using HIS 3-4 is the best thing to happen to this team...Its just 2 years too late IMHO!

I don't think it matter who you have a QB, if we expect to compete will need to fix the right side of our line. As for teams blitzing us go ahead Bledsoe is not a rookie
