Cowboys' radio analyst says he won't go easy on his friend, new coach Jason Garrett
Babe Laufenberg first met Jason Garrett when they lived in the same Las Colinas apartment complex in 1993. Laufenberg already had served as a backup to Troy Aikman. Garrett was about to begin his apprenticeship.
They became fast friends. The relationship continues. It's been well-publicized.
Now, Cowboys radio analyst Laufenberg will have to analyze Cowboys coach Garrett's work.
Will the analyst give the coach any breaks?
"No," Laufenberg said. "It's like when I coached my son in basketball. I think I went overboard the other way to prove I wasn't showing any favoritism. I didn't want people to think we were playing 'daddy ball.' I don't want people to think the same thing with me and Jason."
Laufenberg said Garrett never asked the analyst "to prop him up" in his days as offensive coordinator.
