Cowboys talking to Ty Law.....
Quote:
from rotoworld.com
The Cowboys are reportedly already talking to Ty Law.
It's a perfect fit. The Cowboys have the cap room, the need, and Law has played for Parcells before. Law is also reportedly receiving interest from Cleveland. Feb. 26 - 6:00 pm et

This is from espn's wire......
Associated Press
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Washington Redskins are investigating trading disgruntled wide receiver Laveranues Coles, although coach Joe Gibbs said Saturday nothing is imminent.
Asked about reports that Coles was headed back to the New York Jets for receiver Santana Moss, Gibbs said such a trade "is not very likely, I'd say."
"For us, Laveranues is a very valuable guy and if we can work something out with somebody, that would be fine," Gibbs said at the NFL combine. "If not, he probably will remain a Redskin. Right now, (a trade) is not on the horizon. If we do not work out a trade, we'll go down the road with LC as a Redskin."
Coles, unhappy with his role in the offense despite making 90 catches last year, has asked Gibbs to move him. Coles signed with Washington in 2003 when Steve Spurrier was the coach, leaving the Jets as a restricted free agent when New York refused to match the Redskins' offer.
New York is in the market for a wideout. Coach Herman Edwards on Friday praised Coles, who parlayed a huge third NFL season into his deal with the Skins.
"When he was with us, he was always there," Edwards said. "He's a very good player. He's a tough, physical guy and a really hard worker. We gave him an opportunity and he took it and ran with it."
Edwards added he would have no trouble with any player returning to his team.
"I never take that personally," he said. "It's part of the process."

LIGHTS OUT: From morning to night, Shawne Merriman just loves to crash into people on the football field.
"I wake up in the morning, that's like my alarm clock, man, hearing the hits," the Maryland defensive end/linebacker said.
Merriman, who could go in the first round of April's draft, is known as "Lights Out." He's proud of the nickname.
"It comes from the punishing hits. I don't know how many people watched me during the season, but I've knocked out a couple of people in my time."
His best hit?
"Probably against NC State," he said immediately. "A guy came swinging out of the backfield. I probably had one big hit a game, but the one against NC State is the one that is fresh in my memory ... I cleaned him up pretty good.
"I don't know who he was. I don't think he knew (after the hit."

MEAT MARKET: Some established talent now available as free agents have drawn interest at the combine.
Already, wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad as an agreement with Chicago. Detroit has interviewed quarterback Jeff Garcia and put him through physical tests. Dallas is talking to cornerback Ty Law. Cleveland also has expressed some interest in Law, who was released Friday by New England.
"Ty Law is coming off an injury, so that has to be considered: the injury situation, our team and how he fits with our team," new Browns coach Romeo Crennel said. "So that's what we are doing.
"We're going to take a look at everybody who might fit for us. We're just not going to jump off the bridge right now, and we'll try to be meticulous and look at things and see who fits and how they fit and determine whether we can use them."

SPENDING BIG: Giants general manager Ernie Accorsi expects a spending spree during the free agency period that opens Wednesday. Not by his team, but by the league in general.
He sites a relatively small crop of quality unrestricted free agents.
"I think it will be a very expensive free agency period," he said. "My feeling is that there are more top players being franchised or being retained by their clubs, that will reduce the glitter part of the pool. More money will be thrown at fewer players. It'll be expensive."
As soon as a few deals are announced, it will impact the numbers for later contracts.
"Every contract has a ripple effect," he said. "There's a drag effect no matter what level the player is on."
While the Giants have the most cap room since Accorsi became their GM in 1998, he doesn't plan to be the leading spender in free agency. He noted the Giants don't have as many holes as they did last year.
"We can be more selective, we're not as desperate," he said. "We hired Billy Davis as linebackers coach last year and I didn't want to look at him. We didn't have any linebackers for him."

If Crennel is interested in having him in Cleveland, then the injury must not be something that would hurt him this year. It must not be that big of a deal.

Can Law play the way the refs are calling illegal use of hands these days? After all, they started calling it closer because of him, just figures to me they would watch him closer than anyone. He's also coming off an injury. Lots of questions for me.

I don't think so. I think for Ty Law, it's about the money. Which I completely understand. At 31, this is probably his last big money contract. So I imagine he goes to whoever's gonna pay him the most. It's not like he needs another ring.
Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

If Crennel is in no hurry to sign him he must not be THAT interested.

Nice pickup if it happens....but
only for an affordable, reasonable offer for a 31 year old CB. I still would rather a younger Lucas be signed who has two good years in a row and one with the new rules. And he makes big plays!! Rolle and Dyson wouldn't be too bad either. Dare I say...Smoot also.
Another poster made a good point though, that you might not lose to much in just drafting Rogers who will come significantly cheaper and probably do just as well.

I will be surprised if Law winds up in Dallas. I will also be a little disappointed.

Try again, it's from the wire service.
That means somebody said it somewhere and it got picked up by AP.
When it's in a headline on ESPN.com or on ESPN news or Sportscenter THEN it's coming from ESPN.

I hope we don't just settle for Ty Law without exploring other options at CB. I would like to see us take a closer look at the CB market when free agency begins.
Get a good look at some of the younger prospects.
