It might be designed to get rid of Dat's salary. I don't know his cap number, but he might be thrown into the deal to get rid of his salary and give Parcell an opportunity to get a bigger MLB.

I think the key words are that the Raiders proposed this, not that Dallas would do it.
I could see this if the Boys were considering cutting Dat, but the way BP talked about him last year, I doubt that.
Even so, Woodson wants major $. He is a good (not great) CB, but he will be expensive. I would hate to see any 1st round pick sent for a guy that will also take up a lot of cap space. I would rather overspend on a good free agent CB.
Heck, you could sign an old guy like Law AND take a CB at #11 to cover your bases. Or you could give up a lesser pick for a guy like Surtain.
It is a bad idea on many levels. It just sounds made up, because it is so lopsided. The Raiders don't have a lot of leverage with Woodson, he sould come at a discount in a trade.

Really... according to TSN radio, they made it sound like the Cowboys offered this to the Raiders... this is getting kind of interesting.

If this is true we are getting raped as bad as the Deadskins got raped in the Bailey / Portis deal. Worse even since Portis was healthy and Woodson is not (and hasn't been for a couple of years).

That trade sounds nauseating. When you can sign a player like Smoot or Lucas for no compensation, why would you trade a high pick and a defensive starter for a CB?
Offseason disaster if that projected trade goes down.

Jerry and Al Davis are good friends.
Davis is in cap hell, and Jerry can rescue him. Davis is in a pickle more than Jerry is. Jerry has his pick of the litter when it comes to FA CBs. Why would he do Davis a favor by trading away a 1st round pick AND getting him out of cap hell?
Jerry will not give up more than a 2nd round pick for Woodson. Book it!
Jerry has learned that trading away 1st round draft picks is not a good recipe for success.

It could happen as soon as the end of today and early tomorrow.

Not likely.
Especially with the all of the available FREE agents out there.

So all the talk about the new contact rules makes us not want a CB early in the draft, yet we'll gladly trade our first pick plus a defensive starter? I smell something.
