One person to blame about this stupid qb thing
It is all Jerry's fault
The last 2 maybe 3 years should have been Tony Banks worse case 1 to 2 years of Banks
Jerry screwed up big time and caused all the stupidty to happen
QC and Hutch where not ready to hit the field and both where projects that should have been learning on the sideline unless an injury occured
Oh no JJ had a worthless sniveling no backbone figure head of a coach who should have been fired the next day after the Texans loss.
Ok so I am still mad at JJ for not firing Campo the next day his team was not prepared or ready to play

That is what I have said all along, even though I did not like banks,by not having a veteran Qb [even a lesser talented one]we set the team back.I liked Campo as D coach but he should have told jj to go to hell.

Did you just post this today? Or did some old post from 2 years ago just get re-submitted?
Talk about holding onto a grudge...

Im not mad a Jerry......the draft is a crapshoot and Jerry took his shot with QC....it was a low second rounder and if Carter fails as a starting NFL QB...IMHO...I think he can make a solid backup.
Hutch was a shot in the dark.....it cost us nothing....except money. We weren't going to win with Banks.....no harm done .....Teams rise and then they fall....IMHO....we are on the rise now......you can't live at the top forever
Jerry is learning....like everyone else....I actually think he has become not a bad GM. I also think Jerry is the best owner n football.
Jerry has learned that Loyalty is not good in running a football team. As a GM...you can't let it become personable.. He was too loyal to a bunch of players and a handfull of coaches. Campo was a bad hire.....Gailey IMHO didn't have a chance....his philosophy wasn't made for the players he inherited.
Players took advantage of his loyalty.....Jerry also ran into some bad luck....players getting hurt: K.Smith achillies tendon, Galloways torn knee ...Sanders toes....Irvin neck....Aikmans concussions....Allens injuries troubles....Haley and Novachek back problems, Moose's neck...it all lead to cap hell.....which lead to Jerry realizing that you have to be fugal (sp?) with your money.
Thats why you saw Carter taken in the second....a little high but a longer contract.....Hutch and now Henson.....signed incentive based seven year deals. You take a shot but if you miss.....it doesn't cost you much.....just time.
Jerry also realized that coaching is more important then he evisioned since the cap came into place. There is no cap in hiring coaches.....scouts and so forth.
So for a man that came into this league in 89.....I think Jerry has done well for himself.....mainly because he is a good listener.....doesn't need all the control....Like so many media outlets think he needs and is always willing to learn and change.
He does all this....for the better of the Cowboys. Some things may not work out....and some have.....but his heart is in the right place.
And thats all can ask for.
John 16:22 And ye therefore now have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh away from you.

The mistake was not drafting any QBs from 1994 on to groom, instead we went with the old vet and the really cheap, coach-type #3.

The big thing is we got spoiled with Troy that everyone forgot how hard it is to get a franchise QB. Suddenly he is hurt and has to retire and the revolving door began to twirl. It is easy to be Monday morning QB and say we should have a drafted a rookie in this or that year. The simple fact is we couldn't even keep a backup for Troy on the roster more than 2 yards outside of Jason Garrett. You learn your lessons in life and move on. We have a couple of guys now that will keep getting better. Maybe one of them will pan out. (BTW one of them is not named Hutchinson.)
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

We could blame JJ, or we could just place the blame where it belongs.....On the QBs(QC and Hutch) that perform at a below average level.

Good post. We have all been spoiled by the Dallas Cowboys franchise as far as QB's and RB's go....that is why we are harder on them than most fans from other franchises. We expect to have the best everything....but in the age of the salary-cap, it's just that much harder.

Bingo..we have a winner.By not having developed ayounger Qb we had no way to absorb troy's early retirement. No 2nd round rookie should HAVE to start.

Realistically we maybe would've won one or two more games in 2001 with a veteran like Banks. Jerry knew that it'd be easier selling tickets by marketing a high draft pick and unknown like QC, than a known below average QB like Banks.
The problem was that we didn't have anyone properly groomed to take over and had to rely on a journeyman like Banks or a rookie like QC.
But we really screwed it the next year by inserting Hutch when he obviously wasn't ready. Heck, he still isn't ready.
So ultimately I think JJ does deserve alot of the credit for our problems due to his lack of drafting skills and poor personnel moves. He wanted to be the GM and get the credit - so I think he deserves the credit - even though it's negative.
