Default DMN: Why slumping Manning is still a threat to Cowboys

Why slumping Manning is still a threat to Cowboys

IRVING – The Cowboys' defense needed a big stop to preserve a four-point lead over New Orleans on Thanksgiving.

But instead of shutting down the defending Super Bowl champions, the Cowboys surrendered a 55-yard pass play on third-and-10. And so what could have been their biggest victory this season was supplanted by the fourth longest completion against them.

Big plays have meant doomsday for Dallas' defense. Opposing quarterbacks have completed passes of at least 35 yards 11 times. Seven of those throws have gone for more than 40 yards.
