Default Why does Windows change file folder icons????

This has bugged me in the past, and it seems to happen pretty frequently.

Why in the hell does Windows change the way I view files and folders in my various master folders???

Example, I have one desktop folder named "Novel". It has 7 sub folders and 12 files in the main folder that aren't assigned into any subfolder. Each subfolder has between 6 and 20+ files.

I like all my files to be displayed as large icons. Why is it that at some point Windows will randomly change every single file and folder to "list/detail" view?

You can change it so ALL folders appear the same.

Once in a folder. Fix it so it is set up the way you like. Large Icons, List, arrange icons by.

So you get it the way you want it.

Go to the tools option in the bar.

click on the view TAB.

Click on the Apply to all folders button.

From that point on, each folder you open should be set up just the way you set that one up.

Hope that helps.

Ahead of the curve on that. I have the master folders set up like that, and some of the older sub folders jump back to list view. It seems to be a function of how long the folders sit idle.

Btw, posting this from the floor of Strahan Coliseum during Commencement ceremony. Finally getting my BS.

okay, Windows did it again. I opened up the folder for my novel, and the content including every subfolder are in list form.

Weird.
