Someone sent my family this over facebook a month ago or so...it's one of the coolest things I've ever seen - live footage of my grandfather in Vietnam.

I tried reposting it but it won't show up for some reason. I was able to watch it on youtube though.

He's still alive. I've gotten him to open up about Vietnam only twice. He hasn't seen this video but he does know that it exists. He said he doesn't want to look at it.

He's a two-time Purple Heart awardee.

Very cool video. The scars from his time there must run inconceivably deep.

I got a small chuckle from the M202A1. I read somewhere that they quit issuing them because the incendiary rockets would spontaneously ignite because they contained a sodium catalyst. Not exactly the thing you want on your back in a high humidity environment like, say, Vietnam?

My uncle Mike doesn't talk about Viet Nam either. The only clue I have to his time there is a poem he wrote when he got back. I memorized it because it was so haunting.

It was a tough time... my (late) uncle was captured and tortured by Russia...

He was one of the spies that got caught... beaten to a pulp...

He was a really cool guy... and a bonified bad-arse...
