Those are two things that certainly should be questioned. I feel the same way.
But we're "laymen," so what do we know?

we didnt exactly pass on Bert Berry...we made him an offer and were outbid by lowly Arizona...and they didnt outbid us with a break the bank offer either...if he truly wanted to play here he could have...was it worth a couple extra hundred grand to play for one of the worst franchises in sports?
do agree with you on the Henson thing

No, it was a bitter caller who said "its always another year excuse with Parcells and the Cowboys", not Robert Kraft. I don't quite know what he means when he says "another", since Parcells has been here only two years, and one of those years they over ahieved. The talk show related it back to Parcells with the Patriots. Robert Kraft never said "it always another year of excuses".
The revisionist history is pretty astounding. No one seems to remember that when Parcells took over the Patriots they didn't even have a workable scouting department, and he had to build the organization from the ground up. Now all of a sudden he didn't even look at the long term. Parcells goes into great lengths describing that franchise as the worst one he's ever been involved with. They didnt even have workable practice fields. In 1989, Bill Parcells hired Charlie Weis, who went from Franklin Township High School to the Giants as a lower level assistant coach, I guess that was just working for the immediate and not looking at a long term payoff.

The same revisionist history also has conventional wisdom attributing the ressurrection of both franchises solely to Parcells.
Anyone with half a brain can see it was not just him. Even if saying that makes everyone sleep better at night.

I agree... and part of Kraft could be trying to elevate his franchise higher than ours in the minds of the media and fans...
Bill Parcells tracj record speaks for itself... he has been a winner everywhere he has been... as well as launching the careers of several fine coaches...

Those two are right on. Why he continued to trot Vinny out there was just plain stupid. I'd be willing to bet we would not have had to cut Berry after one horrible season.

This is the first time I have ever heard anything about this, perhaps its true but one would think a statement like this by Kraft would have been in all the sports reports.

It sounds more like a Jeff Gannon story.

That's just what I was thinking. Kraft has been more than happy with all the players "no vision" Parcells drafted. Belichick won 3 Super Bowls with them. And Kraft--& Belichick-- were more than happy to take all the assistant coaches who had worked with "No Vision", as well as "No Vision's" son-in-law who got a lot of training under "No Vision."
Since it's the Ticket, I take it for what it's worth. I'd be curious, if they can even do it, to find what year Kraft supposedly said it. But the Ticket guys have lately spent a lot of time digging up quotes out of context, throwing them against the wall to see what sticks, & then using it as "proof" of something--I'm not sure what, but the Ticket guys seem to know.

I'm withholding judgement on the Henson deal. I will say, in regards to Berry, that he went to Arizona first for a look-see, had intended to come here next, but was offered so much $$ by Arizona that he accepted the offer on the spot. So Parcells didn't really pass on him--the Boys didn't get a chance to bid on him.

Kraft said thah?
What a load of CRAP!
That franchise was down and out. Stadium half empty. They totally sucked. Parcells in 2 years had the team competetive. By Year 4 had them to the Super Bowl. Parcells helped turned that franchise around. Who's he kidding. There was no interest before the Tuna swam into town.
Kraft refused to give Parcells GM control. Parcells left for that with Jets. He turned Jets around in a year and Pats folded after his departure.
When in 2000 Kraft wised up and gave Coach and GM control to Bellicheck.
Parcells also never would have let Martin be traded for draft picks -

Jeff Gannon is a non-story pushed by far left, tin foil hat wearing democratic blogs.
Rather used forged documents to push a false story.
Obviously this has much more in common with SeeBS.

Well, just out of curiousity, I ran a search on LexisNexis to see if there have been any stories quoting Robert Kraft on Parcells. Their database contains thousands of news publications. The only thing I could find that's run recently was an Archer story that ran in the DMN over the weekend. Here's the section on Kraft:
Jones does not see a difference in views between him and the coach. In fact, Parcells has changed Jones' philosophy some since becoming coach.
"I want to win now enough, and he understands the value of bringing in young players and having young players for the future of the franchise," Jones said. "We don't have any trouble. His look at this game presents no problems for me. I'm more of the win-now mentality than I was six years ago and five years ago."
New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft did not share that philosophy. Kraft wanted a long-term plan that was hard to formulate under Parcells.
"I think what happened was that I inherited Coach Parcells when I came in, and I think the biggest issue I had in that era was even though he had a contract, he coached year to year," Kraft said in Jacksonville before Super Bowl XXXIX. "It's kind of hard to make big commitments or give people authority when you don't know whether they're coming back the next year."
I'd also like to point this part out from the story. There are 2 teams that have done extremely well with Parcells' "No Vision":
Parcells' time as a general manager taught him to think about the future more.
He is proud of how the New York Jets have largely maintained their success since his departure as general manager in 2000. In the four years after Parcells left the team, the Jets have made the playoffs twice and finished better than .500 three times.
Before Parcells arrived, the Jets had finished better than .500 only five times in a nonstrike-shortened season since winning Super Bowl III.
They have done it largely with a core group of players Parcells drafted or signed, including quarterback Chad Pennington (first round, 2000), running back Curtis Martin (free agent, 1998), center Kevin Mawae (free agent, 1998), defensive end Shaun Ellis (first round, 2000) and defensive end John Abraham (first round, 2000).
New England made the playoffs the two years after Parcells left.
"I would like to have it better, sure," Parcells said of the Cowboys. "That's one of the great things about this deal. I can't tell you it's going to be better and know for sure. It's one of the great things about coaching. You don't know. It's fun. It's the fun part."
In Parcells' first two years with the Cowboys, the draft has produced four starters, including a Pro Bowl tight end in Jason Witten and a budding star in running back Julius Jones. Cornerback Terence Newman has started every game in his first two years but slumped in 2004. Center Al Johnson became a foundation player in 2004
