Who plays DE if we stay in 4-3?
I am very happy with the Ferguson signing. I am still not sold on a permanent move to the 3-4 though. If we stay 4-3 then who plays DE opposite Ellis? Most of the top rated DEs in this years draft are considered tweeners and not suitable for every down 4-3 play.
On a side note. What's the deal with Jason Tuck from Notre Dame? Can this guy play?

As of right now, we don't have a starter. Coleman is the likely guy with Ogbogu and Thornton on passing downs if we stand pat.
We won't stand pat, though.

Denver just released some guy the other day (forgot his name) that might be an option, he did pretty good last year. 10 1/2 sacks.
The toothbrush had to be invented in West Virginia, if it was created anywhere else it would have been called a teethbrush.

i like justin tuck and think we could nab him with our 2nd-rounder. he's 6-5 and about 260. very quick.

I think the 3-4 is almost a sure thing. I also like Justin Tuck, but I don't want to take him any earlier than the 2nd round. If we don't move to the 3-4(even though I'm pretty sure it will happen) then Coleman would be a good answer.

if you think 3-4 is almost a sure thing then tuck is NOT your man. he is a 4-3 end if i ever saw one.

I'd like to get Hayward (maybe wrong spelling) from Denver.
And draft Merriman.

"The biggest flaw in Tuck’s game is the question around his size. He is the classic tweener at the next level. He is slightly undersized as a 4-3 DE, and that causes some questions about where he should go in the draft. If he’s not going to be an every down player, a team is not going to waste a Top 20 pick on him."
"Justin Tuck is going to be a big time pass rusher in the NFL. There are people that think he can’t handle the beating of playing a 4-3 DE spot because of his lack of bulk, but I believe he is such a standout pass rusher, teams will be able to live with him being taken out of some running plays at times."

tuck is an underclassman - i'd think it's a safe bet he will add a few pounds in the weight room over the next year or two.

I almost think we have to get a DE in FA as well.
I don't think we can count on Coleman or Ogobu to start.
As for the Draft, if we are still running the 4-3 as the base this year, Spears probably makes the most sense in that he can play multiple positions on the DL, and he can play in the 3-4 later on and in spot duty this year as well.

I too prefer we stay w/ the 4-3 (especially w/ the signing of Ferguson) and morph into a 3-4 as a change of pace. Carlos Hall-DE is someone I want us to take a look at for DE...
Justin Tuck = Jason Taylor??? Taylor sure plays well as an "undersized" DE. I sure hope the silly GMs pass on Tuck becuz of the size issue and he drops to us in the second round.....
