Default Oklahoma FS Quinton Carter

How come noone is talking much about him? I think he would be perfect in Rob Ryan's defense. Can cover the back half, match up singly and can blitz. He apparently loves to tackle too.

Oh yeah, and he managed to snag only 8 interceptions the last 2 years.

He's a bit of an enigma to me as well, I've read everything from he should be a first round pick to he should be a 4th round pick. He's been productive, that's for sure.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Maybe we could get some Oklahoma fans' opinion of him.

I know CBSSportsline has him rated the top FS in the draft with an early 2nd round grade.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind him personally. I'm intrigued by him, I'd like to hear some more opinions as well from people that have seen him play.

Maybe we could ask Jeremy Maclin.

He will knock your block off but to me he seemed a little stiff in coverage.

Always around the ball...Late 2nd round to early 3rd pick.

That's not the information that I've been given from CBSSportsline. They say he's athletic and has fairly good change of direction for a safety.

JMO

I always thought he would be more of a SS in the NFL.

I love him already for the hit on Maclin.

And seriously... I always trust fans who watch their teams closely over the internet scouting gurus offering reports on 1000 different players. Always.

And I think Catch is right in that OU seems to have a lot of pro disappointments in the backfield. They get a lot of top athletes from Texas and other places, but for some reason they don't translate a lot. Who was the big, athletic corner the year Newman came out... He wasn't any good. Brodney Pool has just been decent. I don't know what it is. Maybe they play with big leads so much, it makes it too easy on them in college... Or something.

you want to elaborate on that a little?
"Young man, when you throw a strike, Mr. Hornsby will let you know."
Bill Klem when a pitcher questioned a called ball to Rogers Hornsby.

I don't think I would trust fan evaluations of defensive backs, especially safeties, except how they tackle.

http://www.draftcountdown.com/Scouti...ton-Carter.php

Strengths:
• Ideal height, adequate bulk and a sturdy build
• Naturally athletic with decent speed and a burst
• Is tough, physical and will deliver knockout hits
• Excels in zone situations when facing the action
• Above average hands, ball skills and body control
• Is active, aggressive and flows to the ball well
• Nice range, covers a lot of ground and closes fast
• Good football IQ with solid instincts / awareness
• Is intense, competitive and confident in abilities
• Will also offer a lot of potential on special teams

Weaknesses:
Lacks fluid hips to transition smoothly in coverage
Will struggle to match up against wideouts in man
Poor pad level and will get too high in backpedal
Often times goes for big hit rather than wrapping up
Vulnerable to double moves / fakes and gets tricked
Might be a bit of a Cornerback / Safety 'Tweener

and I'm a Sooner Fan if you didn't know....

Why not? The ones that truly pay attention and are objective about it can usually tell. So many innerweb "scouting" services just go on the word about a guy that gets passed around, and it's often wrong.
