Taylor Mays vs Patrick Peterson
For those in the know what is the difference between Taylor Mays from the 2010 NFL Draft and Patrick Peterson 2011 NFL Draft. They seem to be built the same and there were knocks on Mays.

Mays was a hard hitting safety that had question marks on his ability in coverage Peterson is a CB who has shown the ability to man up on a WR and get the job done.

C'mon, this thread really should be stopped in its tracks because Taylor Mays and Peterson have absolutely nothing in common.
They are not similiar in size.
They are not similiar in coverage ability.
They are not similiar in agility.
They are not similiar in playmaking ability (as a corner or returner)
They don't even play the same position.
I mean really, what's next? Should say Doug Flutie and Cam Newton are the same player?

I started to reply and it was just pointless but you covered it pretty well.

I knew Taylor Mays was a Safety but
have been wondering if thats where Patrick Peterson might be headed or do you feel he will be a CB in the NFL ?

I guess that I had started forgetting Peterson..
because I just don't see him at #9 anyway but have started to think Dallas is probably going DL or LB at #9 instead of CB

Not a clear cut answer.
It has been reported that some scouts/teams see him as a CB.
It has been reported that some scouts/teams see him as a Safety.
The majority, if not all, the scouts/teams seen mayes as a Safety.

I think anyone who takes him that high in the draft will do so with the mindset that he is a starting CB. He may one day become a safety but I would bet anything that who ever gets him is looking at him as CB.

In case the OP was serious.
Mays was a physical freak who has some serious coverage issues. We knew he would wow at the combine with his combination of size, speed, and strength. He can play 1 NFL position and that is Strong Safety (maybe OLB in a 4-3).
Peterson is a football freak who some scouts aren't sure is a CB (most think he is). He could potentially play anywhere in the Secondary. He is also a high caliber return man.
Peterson isn't the tackler Mays is but he is a much more complete football player.
Sincerely, Taylor Mays' Biggest Fan
