Default John Abraham?

Anyone know what the asking price is on him... i assume the Jets have no real intention of keeping him, and aside from some injury problems, he is perfect for the 3-4. he plays the DE/LB tweener role to a T.

just wondering.

Would have been a great pickup, but the Jets slapped him with a franchise tag.

He'd be the perfect finsishing touch for our Dline. Ferguson, Glover, Ellis, Abraham, would be an amazing Dline, one of the best in the league.

Where do you get this info from???

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

The Jets more than intend on keeping him...

they plan on building their whole defensive strategy around him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was thinking as more of a 3-4 LB/DE. But I DO think the Franchise tag was ajust a way of the Jets getting SOMETHING for him instead of letting him walk. I don't think they plan on keeping him at that cap hit or even negotiating a long term contract. the already spent enough on the DLine. they have otehr needs that are more pressing.

either that tag gets dropped or they trade him.

IF we could afford him (he'd have to agree to a long term deal before any trade), and IF they we're willing to let him go for something less than a 1st round pick.

He could be a centerpice for the 3-4

I may be mistaken but when Ellis signed his long term deal I had heard that mean tthe end for Abraham, who the jets had soured on a bit ebcause he's constantly banged up.

Then when the tag was applied, I was reading allt hese stories about how teams are using the Tag with no intention of keeping players but stillg etting somethign via trade for them, a la teh Buffalo bills adn Peerless Price a few years ago.. I thought his name came up in tehre.

I could be wrong though... just the impression i was under.

EDIT: found the story i was thinking of: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/column...len&id=1988563

Len P specifically says that WHILE the jets tagged Abraham to keep him, OTHER teams are using the tag to trade players.

the lesson as always... i'm an idiot.
