I am ok with signing one Browns DB in Henry but I hope we don't sign Griffith also
Below is a note I saw in the Cleveland Plain Dealer concerning Robert Griffith. I guess Dallas's name has come up since Bowles is now our secondary coach. I think Griffith at one time was a very good player and is a good leader, but he is older now and I have never thought pass coverage was a strength of his anyway. Witten torched him pretty good when we played the Browns this year.
Plain Dealer note:
He said about six to eight teams have already expressed interest, but that he'd prefer to go to a contender. He said he hopes to play three more seasons. He's talked to former Browns assistant Todd Bowles, who's with Dallas and they might be interested.
"I'm not hurting for money," he said. "I just want to play and win."
A 2000 Pro Bowler, Griffith topped 100 tackles in each of his three seasons with the Browns, including career-highs of 142 and 157 in the past two seasons. He set the tone for playing hard after Davis resigned. Interim coach Terry Robiskie said he held the defense together during those tough times.
He set the record straight on a fistfight between him and receiver Quincy Morgan in the locker room in 2003. "Tempers flared," he said. "But after that, Quincy and I were fine and we went out to dinner a couple of times and were friends."
