Tyron Smith drops out of Combine

After participating in the bench press on Friday, USC offensive lineman Tyron Smith abruptly has decided to drop out of the remainder of the Scouting Combine events.

The news comes from Steve Wyche of NFL Network.

The reason for the decision isn’t known. The last “Saturday surprise” at the Combine came two years ago, when reports emerged that receiver Michael Crabtree would not participate due to a foot injury that required surgery.

Smith is rated as one of the top offensive line prospects in the draft

Charles Davis from the NFL Network was reporting on Twitter that it's a knee issue that's keeping Smith from working out.

sucks that it's a potential injury hope it's not serious. I love how the lowlifes on that site right away imply that it's something else, they could have researched it or at least phrashed it better IMO.

Apparently, this is related to surgery he had 8 weeks ago and it is expected he will be ready to work out at his Pro Day next month.

its been rumored all week that he wouldnt participate in the 40...im not surprised at all that he isnt doing any of the other drills

Watching the Combine on NFL network they talked about it. He had some swelling in the knee and wisely decided NOT to do anymore.
