how is he not what we need. last I checked we didn't have a RT worth starting. Carimi can come in and start day one at RT, we have a LT so I don't care if he can play LT in the NFL.

Don't worry fellow Cowboys that other Cowboys never seen a great player his life Gabe to reminds me another great LT Mark Tuinei. Dallas was watching OT's NT like Baylor Phil Taylor, Kenrick Ellis when Kendrick Ellis hami the DC Rob Ryan went down to talk the guys at NFL Network . I know because I have it on tape.

I would take Carimi before all of them.

A combination of his athleticism, production, and attitude.

Carimi will be a RT, Smith will probably end up being a franchise caliber LT.

Jerry Jones in the draft room is suicide on the football field. The line of scrimmage is EVERYTHING. Something Jerry doesn't understand.

Smith at LT for two weeks vs those so called specialized speed ruchers of the pac 10, which maybe only one is a 1st round pick this year, he sucked at. He was moved back to RT where he played well.
Smith is only so high because of his potential and athletic ability for his size, not for being a great OT. Thats how busts are drafted. Smith hasn't shown anything that shows he can play LT in the NFL.
I would rather take a 4 year starting LT who played vs top tier players than a two year RT that played in the Pac 10.
[View Full Quote]I need a RT that can start now, not in 2-3 years. Free was a top 3 LT in the NFL last year and this year should be just as good if not better. HE can hold down the LT spot for years to come no need to draft a guy that "might" be a LT in 4-5 years with the 9th pick overall.

Switching over to the left side from the right side is like going from predominately using your right hand to using your left.

and thats not that easy. If it was easy then Smith would have stayed at LT besides being moved to RT.

key would is probably, I have heard that when people were talking about Alex Barron. Sorry man but if he can't be a LT in the pac 10 I don't see him being a LT in the NFL. If he does become a LT it will be way down the road. We need a RT now. COlombo is done. Carimi might just be a RT for his career, but thats fine with me, thats what we need. We have Free at LT, why waste the 9th overall pick on a RT when you can get a just as good if not better RT later in the 1st round in Castanzo or Carimi.

Exactly and rightnow Dallas is cuffed at LT by Doug Free because he needs help vs most of the top speed rushers in the league.
Every team in the NFL including the NFC East trys to feature a top flight speed rusher and that is where Free is limited.
Therefore, LT Smith over RT Carimi "erreyday" and twice on Gameday.

You can't just switch sides and expect no drop off. The technique to play left tackle is the complete opposite of the technique to play right tackle.

People knew of Alex Barron's work ethic before he was drafted. Do you hear people say the same thing about Smith? No.
There is a reason Smith was playing RT and it wasn't because he couldn't play LT. Smith is far and away a better prospect than Carimi or Castanzo and that isn't even debatable.

We agree on Smith, but not Free. Free's best asset is his feet. He is a better pass protector than run blocker. Free is a fine LT, I just think Smith will be superior when it's all said and done.

It seems that no one remembers when Frre came in for an injured Adams in the playoff game and was dominated after making the switch from the right side. Give him a full offseason to refine technique and he is a quality starter on the left side.

I agree I like Carimi both in his pass protection and his run blocking.
