Hi

I have been following this board for a long time and I have really enjoyed the discussions. I'm also a big ND fan I have seen Julius Jones since his freshman year and he is the real deal. I think we will have a very good running game this year as I think JJ can carry the load, he has good speed and balance, the reason he did not play more his senior year was I think Ty Willingham really did not want to play him unless he had to. I think the backup situation is just not real experienced, I think there is some talent, just not experience, Bickerstaff is not a bad runner, he has power and will hit the hole, unlike a past back we used to have.

, I have never seen Lee, but I think he just needs more reps. I would not have a problem signing a vet backup if we can get one cheap, but if not we should be all right with these guys along with Anderson in a limited role and Cason (who has speed).

I would love to see Julius Jones turn into the "real deal". Man, that would be terrific....we could use some of that luck.

Welcome Cowboy4322, and thanks for the post.

I feel optimistic about Jones as our starter and among the backs we currently have, I would like to see Lee stay healthy and have a good camp. I think he could prove to be a good #2 back for us, "if" he's given enough reps in camp to show that he's worthy of the #2 spot. I see Bickerstaff being farther behind Lee and therefore, see either Bickerstaff or Cason as being the odd man out among the backs currently on our roster.

I believe Maurice Clarett was on the Cowboys radar. I think they had hoped he'd be part of the Running game commitee. I think Curtis Martin will be a Cowboys if he's released.

Even though I am not a fan of Notre Dame...I sure do hope Julius does well for the cowboys.

Thanks for the welcome, I agree, I don't think Parcells is going to plug Julius in right away either, but he'll do fine. We will see.

I differ - I think BP is going to plug JJ right in and see what the kid has to offer right from the get go. I see him handling the brunt of the work load but with BP giving some touches to the other backs on the team. I would be surprised if JJ doesn't have 75% of the carries on the team - all this predicated on the fact that he is indeed the real deal.

I share your optimism too, not about Julius Jones yet, because I really haven't seen him that closely in college. I did see him briefly, but at that time Ryan Grant was starting that game ( against Michigan and some against Michigan State I believe).

Anyway, I do trust BP not to make the same mistake twice and under estimating Talent like last year. Both QB and RB, left lot to be disired last year. I hope and think that wont be the case this year.

I agree, I think BP will plug him in right away also unless someone out performs him in Training camp. Big Bill will play whoever he believes gives the team the best chance to succeed. I think JJ will easily be the best of the backs with Lee backing him up.

You're probably right, he will start from the beginning, I thought at first that he would be brought along slowly to get up to the speed of the game but then I realized that the running back position is one the easiest positions to pick up in the NFL.

emmitt held out of training camp his rookie year and was pretty much handed the job in week 2.
