Default FWST: Some say Jones family foundation needs greater transparency

ARLINGTON -- In 2004, residents were told that a vote to spend taxpayer dollars at Cowboys Stadium would guarantee $16.5 million in donations from the pro football team to "pay for much-needed sports fields and youth initiatives in Arlington."

As part of its commitment to the city for helping build the stadium, the Gene and Jerry Jones Family Arlington Youth Foundation pledged to contribute $500,000 a year for 33 years for athletic, recreational and educational programs that would benefit Arlington youths.

Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

But at least one city councilman isn't happy with the projects the foundation has selected or with the city's limited say on how the money is spent.

I bet he is upset that he can't get his grubby hands on it.

I agree with you Doomsday. Everyone else mentioned in the article seem to be pretty happy with the arrangement.

I'm sure there is some other good organization that could use the money but it appears the Jones family has been very generous with their donations to the local community.
