Default Long Time Fan-Living in the wrong land

I am a lifelong Cowboys fan but have been raised in DC area all my life. My father and all of his family are natives to Texas and most have lived there all their lives. Most live in the DFW area and I always have loved to visit. Great place.

I grew up in the Danny White era. Remember getting abuse from my mom (who grew up all her life in DC area) during those days. When the Skins were winning Super Bowls and we weren't. Then there was "the catch" that about broke my heart. However, as bad as the catch hurt, it didn't compare for me the way that loss to the Redskins did in '83.

Fortunately things corrected themselves and it's been great dishing out revenge for the last 30 years or so. I've gone to a lot of games at RFK and Fedex and have experienced some great Cowboys moments. I got to see Tom win one of his last games ever at Fedex. I was there when Jimmy won his first in '89. That was extra special due to the abuse I took from Chief Z and all the skins fans before going into the stadium. Funny after that wasn't the case.

I saw Emmitt and Michael torch the Skins in the 90's lots of times. I even got to see one of Troy's last great games when they came from behind and Rocket caught the 80 yarder in OT @ Fedex Field.

My greatest Cowboys memory though was not at a game. It was at a hotel and a bookstore. Twice I had the honor of meeting the Legend Tom Landry. I have an Autobiography signed by him when I was still playing football in HS around here. It reads " I hope someday you're part of America's Team". It's priceless to me. But the second best part was a picture of me and Mr. Landry together.

Lots and lots of great memories of games over the years to think about. So many. My son and daughter are both growing up as fans (6 and 9) and we look forward to taking a trip down to see my relatives and of course visit the new stadium and watch the Boys go to work. I look forward to a great 2011/2012 season and getting that 6th Championship. Can I get a HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS?! If you agree?

Looking forward to years of fun chatting about the Boys!

Just realized my foul up i was typing too fast. I saw Tom's last win as coach at RFK not FEDEX Field. It was cool to see the last win of a Legend's career and the first of the next one's.

There is no formula for success except an unconditional acceptance of life and what it brings.
