It's always fascinating to observe how the best of the
2nd tier leagues aren't able to cut it in the lowest
level of the best leagues.
Richmond Flowers and Chiaverini are also tearing up the
Arena league right now.
"Young man, when you throw a strike, Mr. Hornsby will let you know."
Bill Klem when a pitcher questioned a called ball to Rogers Hornsby.

What About
Will Pettis !
On another board a few years back there was a poster who ranted about WR McCullough. The dude has been cut by around 6 different NFL teams. I call them fringe pool players.

Copeland dominated the CFL last year. He made some incredible catches in clutch situations.
Tucker also did extremely well last year, but I think he was injured at one point, and that's why he's not on that list...He too made a lot of great catches
Ben Cahoon was great as well and he's Canadian, so I hope somehow he makes it into the NFL.

Copeland got jobbed
All Copeland did was catch the d@mn ball. I was irked when the boys cut him because he supposedly was too slow. The guy caught every freakin pass they threw at him in preseason for two years and they still cut him. If Parcells was the coach at that time he would've no doubt made the team. Parcell's plays the best players regardless, Copeland would've been an asset.

I agree and he is not afraid to fight for the ball.
And since it is your first post, welcome aboard.

To catch 100 balls
is an accomplishment - even in the CFL
Is he going to a NFL camp?

I concur wholeheartedly. I've wondered on more than one occasion what Parcells would've done with a guy like Copeland. By all accounts he has a terrific attitude and work ethic, and has made it big everywhere he's been given the opportunity. Granted, in his professional career this specifically has meant the XFL and the CFL but so what? He obviously has the hands and toughness, but yes, speed has been the question.
I would hope that Jerry has kept him on the radar and that Bill has caught some tape of training camp practices past. If it hadn't been for that broken collarbone in 2001 I think he was making the club that year. Well, one thing to remember also, is that Quincy and him were quite close and were sharing a home at one point as a joint investment, anyone remember that? Wonder if that's still the case.

Mcgarity's also doing well up here.
The overall level of talent size and speed in the NFL exposes the weaknesses of these players.
I remember when "swirvin" Mirvin Fernandez was considered hands down the greatest WR in the league for the BC Lions. He gets picked up by the raiders and is like their 3rd reciever and is barely noticed.
"Young man, when you throw a strike, Mr. Hornsby will let you know."
Bill Klem when a pitcher questioned a called ball to Rogers Hornsby.

Yeah the little Irishman, Wane McGarrity plays in Calgary.
When I watch CFL games, it seems that half the damn receivers were Cowboys at some point.
The game is way different, far more passing due to there only being three downs, the DBs are small and it is hard to cover on the wide field. Copeland is fast up here but slow in the US.
I liked Copeland because he made plays and clearly would be better than Randall Williams.
However, remember, before the 2003 CFL season, Copeland was a UFA and no NFL team bit.
Of those four former receivers, the only one I would want back is Copeland.

Copeland played in the Wrestling league football experiment a few years back and lit it up as well. I think he played for the L.A. team and Tommy Maddux was his QB if I remember correctly. Memory is hazy on this. I remember watching one of the games where he just literally dominated and being really impressed. (I know the talent level was not nearly on par with the NFL for the posters who will surely point this out to me). I think he could be pretty decent in the NFL. I think he is a little on the slow side and that had scared off some teams but I hope he gets a chance.
