No bold prediction from Cowboys owner
IRVING — Jerry Jones was cautious with his reply when asked if reaching the playoffs was the Cowboys' goal this season.
“I think we've got to walk before we run,” the owner said.
Jones talked before the start of last season about how sweet it would be for Dallas to become the first host team to play in the Super Bowl. Some took it as a guarantee.
“You guys put it in my mouth last year that I was talking Super Bowl,” he said with a smile. “I asked (Cowboys spokesman) Rich (Dalrymple) to run me back some tape and see where I predicted Super Bowl. I never said that.
