Amen. This should have been enforced as illegal years ago if they were really concerned about protecting players.
I would not even know where to begin guessing how many players have gone down with serious injuries due to cut blocks.
There have been several times players have been tackled with a horse collar, and nothing has come from it.
Now there happens to be one guy out there who does it with such force some guys are getting injured, and they want to make it a rule. That is just silly.
You do not make rules because of one player, unless it is a Dallas Cowboy of course.

what about the Rivera "punch to the face when a guy's on lying on the ground" rule? Why wasn't a rule made about that?
What about the Kevin Gogan "grab a guy's nuts, spit, bit, pinch and twist, and everything dirty under a pile" rule?
Still left to accomplish:
sign OT Winston or G Moore

I watched a ton of football over the holidays and into the NFL playoffs. I saw at least one horse collar tackle in every single game. I believe if my memory isn't failing too bad, that T.O. got tackled the same exact way in the Superbowl. The difference was that his leg didn't get stuck in the ground. It is ridiculous that they are even given this any consideration.

Can anybody post some video on all these tackles? I'm talking grabbing the back collar of the shoulder pads, not the shirt. I watch as much football as anybody and I just haven't seen all these tackles. If someone can prove it, please do.

You watch. They'll make the collar of the shoulderpads off limits, just like the facemask.

"15 yard penalty on #31 Roy Williams for intentionally tackling the ball carrier rather than letting him score."

another thing..I am a db in high school. Im pretty quick, and have good size, but none of that matters when im CHASING someone. What matters is how i grab them, it honestly stop the ballcarriers forward momentum almost completely when you grab the collar, isn't that the point of a tackle? I dont understand why this would be pressed.

Chop blocking reigns free. Nothing like 300 lb. lineman diving at the sides of your knee.
We should flag the idiots who allow Astroturf on football fields IMO. The playing surface causes more injuries than all of the players in the NFL combined.

i don't like the tackle, it can easily be made the conventional way i've played enough rugby and had small experience at american football to realise this.
to me it's like tripping someone and is completely unecessary
however, i wouldn't like to see it banned as the league is too soft already

if Dawkins had done it to Keyshawn and had broken Key's ankle, you'd be thinking it was the greatest thing since sliced bread and batteries to throw at the mom of the starting QB of opposing teams.

And that's the problem here...it's very difficult to legislate intent.
We've seen how ugly things get when refs make judgement calls. Pass interference anyone?

Can you imagine how strong someone has to be to injure someone like that?
