Randal Williams
What has this guy ever done?
Zero catches, 13 tackles in ST in 3 years.
Put that in perspective, Larry Izzo had 48 tackles, Fred McAfee had 28 and Alex Bannister had 35 in the same roles.
Is it really a coincidence Parcells has brought in a half dozen ST prospects this draft? (including FA'S)

Williams
And they gave him a new two year contract this off-season. Now why would they have done that?
Which of the ST type guys they've brought in is a "gunner"?
Surely the problem on special teams is the Zuriel gamble didn't work and the return men in general (Zuriel/Galloway/Bates) were, um, less than spectacular!

Very good point and the quickest TD in NFL HISTORY!
Really, I doubt we beat the Filthy team without that TD last year...
No he didn't have any catches last year, but he really did improve in the preseason, the guys with experence are going to play first... So it makes a great move to have him play on ST and be there in case a active WR goes down...
I like his play and while he was very raw when he first came here...he has steadily improved as a player...Maybe he gets some PT on offense this year?

He hasn't done much but he has that size/speed thing going for him. I'd hate to see him get cut and resurface elsewhere...

NFL.com's tackle statistics are all messed up. The Cowboys have Williams for 28 tackles in the past three years (in 33 games -- remember we didn't pick him up until the middle of 2001, and he missed five games in 2002).
It's obvious that NFL.com's tackles are off when they have him for two tackles in all of 2002. He was our leading special-teams tackler until his injury, and he had three special-teams tackles in just the first game of the season.

Izzo also plays on defense, and all three of those guys have played more games in the past three years than Williams (Bannister 48, Izzo 47 and McAfee 41). Not to mention that they're all Pro Bowl special-teamers, as well.

Yes they are all STers
But if NFL stats are messed up - they should all be messed up. Williams doesn't have as big an impact as gunner as advertised. Izzo played at best sparingly on defense.
What does Stats INc have? I unsubscribed.
And yes those guys I referenced are Pro Bowlers.

Aren't tackle stats arbitrary? I've never really taken on tackles, because I know each team is allowed to compile its own tackles, and different franchises have opposing views as to what comprises a tackle. So I don't know if I'd go into an argument by saying that one player's tackles are higher than another's.

I don't know why people always constantly think special teams is a secondary part of football. Yards are yards, whether they come on offense, defense or special teams. When Randal Williams tackles a guy on a kickoff return at the 15 yard line, when he otherwise would have ran it out to the 30, that's the equivalent of him making a 15 yard catch. When he forces a punt returner to make a fair catch instead of returning it, that's a big play in Parcells eyes. I know maybe things like that don't matter in Fantasy Football and Madden2004, but they matter in the NFL.
Secondly, when Parcells only uses 3 WR sets at the most, our 4th WR is not going to make a lot of plays in receiving. He's going to have to contribute to the team in other ways, otherwise its a waste to even activate him. You're better off activating an extra DL to rotate to keep our starters fresh than to activate a WR who's just going to play grab *** on the sidelines for 4 quarters waiting for one of our top 3 to get injured. If your a Cowboys WR and you don't play special teams, then you better be one of the top 3 WR's on the team, period. Otherwise, you bring absolutely nothing to the table. You're the equivalent of carrying an extra cheerleader on gameday.

Who on ST has done anything for us that we can recall?
He probably would have had more tackles if we scored more points and if Gowin would not have punted 25 yards all the time

Great ST guy. Improved enormously last TC.
Could emerge as a solid #3 stretch the field guy if they had a QB with a consistent big time arm that Parcells had confidence in to get him the ball 30+ yards down the field.
"Young man, when you throw a strike, Mr. Hornsby will let you know."
Bill Klem when a pitcher questioned a called ball to Rogers Hornsby.
