How close did the Patriots come to selecting Cowboys WR Dez Bryant in 2010?
How close did the Patriots come to selecting Cowboys WR Dez Bryant in 2010?
The Patriots play the Cowboys on Sunday, and one of the players who will take the field for Dallas is mercurial WR Dez Bryant. The former first-round pick was one of several linked to the Patriots in 2010.
In fact, Bryant was there for the Patriots to grab at 24, but they traded that pick to the Cowboys instead. With Sunday’s game looming, it was a good time to revisit the issue, one that involved a player with some red flags. It is relevant, of course, as the Patriots search for a deep threat, still.
How close did the Patriots come to drafting Bryant?

What it tells me it that, in other words, they weren't going to touch him with a ten foot pole. I'm glad they made that decision and that we got him.

Odd. I am sure he was listed on many teams boards.
They Pats and the Cowboys were the only ones interested.
Boring non-story.

AS: Cowboys ice their own kicker in 19-13 OT loss
“That is one of the luxuries of my position as owner as well as the ultimate decision maker, general manager and president – I can do that and take the losses and come back for more,” Jones said.

The Ravens were interested in him also. Remember, the Cowboys jumped the Ravens to get him.

There was video of the Pats draft room during that period. They wanted someone else, and when that guy went, they looked disgusted and suggested calling the Cowboys....

Typical non answers in that. Who knows if they really wanted him or not. It worked out for both teams it would seem and that's good enough for me.

Could it be that Randy Moss helped Dallas draft Dez Bryant?
Is it possible that the reason the Pats traded the 24th pick to Dallas, which landed then Dez Bryant, is because they got so tired of dealing with Randy Moss and his issues, that it scared the Pats away from drafting Bryant and his supposed issues that high in the draft?
Something to think about!

Trent Dilfer: "Tony [Romo] has greatness in him. I think when you talk to other people that really play the quarterback position, there's a few guys that really have incredible greatness in them, and Tony is one of them. I think the issue here is he needs more help from his teammates. I think they are not nearly as talented as people say they are, from 1 to 53. I'm talking about the total roster.”
