Another Random Question
Do you think you would be a Cowboys fan today it they had never won any playoff games and or SB's. If the product that we have seen the last 8 years was the product that they had put on thier field thier entire history ?

Then that makes me a bandwagon fan. I jumped on the wagon in the late 70's and have stayed on ever since.
If the team were a prerenial loser like the Cardinals or the Bengals...then I would not have become a fan.

I grew up in the DFW metroplex so I definitely would have been a fan regardless of record. It was just a hometown thing like the Texas Rangers and my old man would tell me stories of Dandy Don and other legends while I was growing up.

I have watched every game for the last 27 years. I am known as a fanatic in by my family and friends. It drives my wife nuts sometimes.
But I would not have become a fan if not for the success of Roger and guys like Dorsett and Randy White.
Does that make me a bandwagon fan ?

I dont know if that makes you a bandwagon fan.
People have different opinions on what makes one qualify as such. In my book it depends on if you have always been a fan of that team. In my case, I have always been a Cowboys fan since I was old enough to know what football was, and have never been a fan or supporter of any other team but the Cowboys. So my definition of a true Cowboys fan might be a little stricter than others, and I guess it all depends on your own perception.

I have always considered a band wagon fan to be those fans that jump on the hot team of the day.
People have to become a fan at some point....and something causes them to become a fan. Many times it is because thier Dad was a fan or because they are from that region.
But fandom begins at some point in time. And so long as a fan does not leave the team during bad times.....then I would not consider that fan a bandwagon fan.

I grew up in Iowa, and all my friends...and their familes...were either Vikings, Packers, or Bears fans.
When I started getting into sports I picked all the teams that won Championships Dallas, the Lakers, and A's. Call me a bandwagon fan if you like, but I was 7 years old and wanted to be independent of the local teams.

I was born a Cowboys fan into a Cowboys loving family, and as long as I can remember I have been a Cowboys Fan. And I always will be.

Good question. It's hard to image this franchise as being different from what we already know. If the owners, coaches, players (and even cheerleaders) were the exact same, I would have to say that I would've been a Cowboy fan. If some or all of the people were missing from the equation, I probably wouldn't have been.
Imagine life as a fan not watching guys suit up in Cowboy blue like a Lilly or a Randy White or a Staubach or a Michael Irvin, etc., etc. I read your question and tried to imagine it. Can't do it. This is an Outer Limits scenario, man!!! It's driving me nuts!!! I can't take it!!! AGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!
Okay. I'm ALLLL better now. :o

I grew up in OK so Dallas was the team I grew up watching and later tried to go to at least one game per year. First team I remember watching when i was a wee lad.
I remember I pouted for days after the 69'ers beat us with "the catch".
I remember back when Gay Bay was in the playoffs and looked like they would probably win their first superbowl in eons...(96 or 97?) and two bandwagoneers came into the store where I worked and bought 5 gay bay fudgepacker t-shirts and 3 GB ball caps. I was so disgusted I asked them as I rung them up, "Will you be returning this merchandise when Gay Bay loses?" Of course they got defensive and went on to say how long they've liked Gay Bay to which I replied, "That must be why you didn't have any Gay Bay T-shirts or caps until now." Puke.
Another interesting thought, at least to me, was that I didn't ever see that many Baltimore bandwagoneers when they won the SB. I guess they were the most disgusting team to ever win it so even the bandwagoneers couldn't buy into them.
Still left to accomplish:
sign OT Winston or G Moore

In the early days, the Cowboys didn't win much. 1960 thru 64 were some pretty damn lean years. In 65 I think, we finally got to something like .500. In fact, it was painful to watch them and even when we started getting good, as I recall, losses to the likes of Green Bay (twice) in the NFL Championship game, Cleveland (twice) in the Confrence Championship game and finally Baltimore in the Super Bowl back in 70 were real hard to take.
I'd say that I would probably be a Cowboy fan either way. I'm a Reds fan and they haven't won in forever. I'm a Texas fan and we get pasted every year by OU in football. I'm a Carolina fan and we have lost to Duke in a way that only the Washington Redskins could appriciate, over the last few years. Hell, I'd still be a Washington Bullets fan if they we're still around.
