I cannot help but believe BP will take the best player available in each slot, even if we trade down (or up).

Kevin Brooks was a defensive end.

The last first round linebacker we took was Robert Jones.

Before that it was 1984 with Billy Cannon, Hollywood Henderson in 1975 and then Lee Roy Jordan in 1963.

The last linebacker we took in round one was Robert Jones in 1992. Kevin Brooks was a defensive end. That said, I dunno if any of that will impact what we do this go 'round.

Kevin Brooks was a DE? Man, I can't remember that far back. I just remember Landry touting our highly anticipated flop LB Kevin Brooks. NE made a play for a trade for the guy, but Landry had faith in the guy.

Go figure.

Dargon, I totally agree that trading down for linemen is a very viable strategy. And I wouldn't be upset if we trade down from both of our 1st round picks just for that reason.

Though it was an injury and not necessarily his ability. Brandt recovered with Herschel Walker in 1985 and Sherrard in 1986 but the 1980's under Brandt really stunk for Dallas-- but nothing like the last ten years under Jerrah. I'd liken Jeffcoat to Ellis, but the closest Jerry has come close to a Walker or Sherrard was Larry Allen (thanls to Houck).

I agree with you, Ziggy... I think at least one of Spears, Hawthorne, CJ Mosely, Travis Johnson, Luis Castillo, or similar will be a Cowboy.

Baas is the dude to get at 20 or with a slight trade down, this guy would pick up where Allen left off...a few years ago..
I like Sam Mayes late rounds.
I like Tuck in the second if no Howard...
Still left to accomplish:
sign OT Winston or G Moore

You know, some how i forgot all about our safety need. I would have liked for us to sign someone in free agency to fill another one of our holes, but I'm not too sure about the quality of safeties in this draft class. We have so many needs, it will be hard to focus on just the line and nothing else.
