Thanks for putting in the time to write that piece. It was a good read.
I had an apartment and I had a neighbor, and whenever he would knock on my wall I knew he wanted me to turn my music down and that made me angry 'cause I like loud music... so when he knocked on the wall, I'd mess with his head. I'd say, "Go around! I cannot open the wall! I dunno if you have a doorknob on your side but over here there's nothin'. It's just flat."

Bear buddy, very good analysis. Don't agree with all of it, but I like how hard you worked on it. Very good read.

Bear,
Interesting analysis. Thank you very much.
Here's my question. The Cowboys still have a big question in the secondary at FS. You mention Bullocks in round two but did not talk about him. The "shutdown corner is obsolete" talk would put even more pressure on a smart cover safety to go along with Roy. I see this as a priority even over OL players. What do you think?

Whaddaya mean, you don't agree with all of it??!?
You DARE challenge my obviously superior grasp of the draft??!?
Keep this up, and I shall be forced to chastise you severely about the head and shoulders...
Seriously, I appreciate the kind words from all y'all...

I think I'd be real happy if the Boys drafted Bullocks, and that he'd likely start as a rookie... and I agree with you completely about the need for a "smart cover safety"... that's one of the things I like best about Bullocks, one recurring theme in the scouting reports I've read is that he's smart... perhaps with time he could develop into that quarterback for the secondary, the glue that holds the deep patrol together...

awesome read - thank you! silverbear, i have a question though. we do have a few more needs than picks, and we all know how jerry and bill love to wheel and deal on draft day. any idea which team might see a player they want badly enough to move up to #11? would we give it up for a later first rounder, or drop back to 2nds and 3rds? my opinion: as in the RW tradedown, we wanted a player we could get a little lower and i think that will hold true. i see us only moving down perhaps 4-6 spots to ensure we still get a quality player to fill a need. thoughts?

This is one of the best pieces I have seen written by the layman, or pros for that matter - hope that's not offensive as I see you are published somewhere but I'm assuming this is still hobby vs career.
Anyway - I really like it. Seems like you've done your homework and the write-up isn't filled with your own puffed up ego or definitive opinions as if this is all some exact science that you have mastered and everyone else (GM's included) has no clue about. Guess I really prefer people who can see both sides of a coin.
I'm watching for your posts from now on.

Alas, you're gonna need somebody else to help you with that one... I focus all my attention on the Cowboys, and with the possible exception of the Skins and Iggles, I really couldn't give you a cogent analysis of any other team's needs...

I actually think a trade down at pick 20, perhaps 10-12 slots, is likely... how far they trade down would depend on who they might be able to get interested in moving up... and depending on how far they moved, they could indeed expect a 2nd or 3rd round pick in return...
I kinda look for the Boys to stay put at pick 11, though...

It's not offensive at all... though I have at times in my life had some of my writing published in magazines or newspapers, none of it was what you'd call big-time...
Besides, it's hard to be offended at anybody who starts out "this is one of the best pieces I have seen written"... after that, I'm gonna assume that you mean to be complimentary, LOL...

Well, there are some players on that list who are just there because I think they've got game, so it's fair to say that some personal bias is involved... but at the same time, I combed a bunch of websites for weeks to find a clue who the Cowboys might like; in the final analysis, that's a bit more important than who I might like, don't you think??
I'll also say that I've been doing an analysis like this for 10-12 years now, and I hit on some, I miss on some... I'm thinking I have a good chance of being a bit more accurate this year, but that's only because I feel like I've gotten somewhat better input this year... found a few new sources...

LOL... fair warning-- I have an evil twin, and he can be downright crotchety sometimes... he posts when I'm asleep... you might want to stay away from him, especially if he's off his meds...

Very nice work, SB... very nice.
I'm hoping we land Darren Sproles in the 4th round...

Thanks much for this Bear, great stuff.
By the way, are you the same Bear who used to frequent the Cowboys' usenet group in the mid 90's? (before it became spam riddled)
