Dallas-Denver Trade? (GBN Speculation)
http://www.gbnreport.com/index.htm
DEs stck in neutral... Still no word on where former Cleveland DE Courtney Brown, the #1 pick overall at the 2000 draft, intends to sign. Brown was supposed to have decided Thursday on which team he was going to sign with, however, he reportedly is taking another look at his options. Brown has reportedly received incentive-loaded offers from both Washington and Denver, while Jacksonville and Seattle are also both still in the mix, although it does not appear that either the Jaguars or Seahawks have made an offer to Brown. Meanwhile, there is a story out of Denver that the Broncos may be considering trying to package veteran DE Trevor Pryce with their #1 pick at the 2005 draft - the 25th overall - in order to try and move up several spots in the opening round. The Broncos have been shopping Pryce, a former Pro Bowler who is coming off a back injury, this winter with little response. Dallas, which has two number #1s = the 11th and 20th picks overall - might be interested if the Cowboys can't swing a deal with New Orleans to acquire Saints' franchised DE Darren Howard. That one has been talked about for awhile, but seems to have slipped to the back burner for now.

If the offer is Pryce and the #25 pick for Dallas' #20 pick, I would at least discuss it and see what Pryce's medical prognosis is and what kind of salary is involved.

6-5 295 this guy is a 3-4 DE if I ever saw one!
Conditional day 2 pick that jumps to a 2 or 3 based on performance. He's a year older than Howard and has a back issue - He can be had far cheaper....

Yeah, conditional day two that could improve to round three at best. I have a feeling he could be Wiley all over again.

Wow Denver is never trading this cat. He's signed to a $6,500,000 contract in 2005. And it gets progressively worse.
I smell June 1st cap cut coming there!
We still have what $7M cap left!

no way i trade for a old de with back problems and a huge contract.he will make 6.5 mil each of the next two yrs then it's 7.9,and 9 mil a year.for that much money you could have howrd for 6 yrs and he is alot more likley to be able to play anywhere close to that time

No way to i even think about this move. We dont need another guy with back problems on this team that is for sure. Just stay where we are in the draft and see what falls our way.

Trevor Pryce may be available in free agency and be able to be had for a more modest contract- if thats the case in the boys estimation than we wait-
but to move down a few spots at the bottom of round 1 for a very disruptive ,pass rusher would be a good move-
Pryce is only 30- he has averaged 10 sacks a year for the past 6 years- minus last years missed season.
Pryce when healthy is among the best- if he is not healthy then walk on by-if he is at least do some window shopping

Exactly - when I pulled up his salary of $6,500,000. I'm not interested in much anything of a trade. Denver will be forced to cut him or trade him away for peanuts.
Any team that takes him on will only do so for a restructed contract.

I like the idea of taking a shot at Price... just not for a lot of money nor for a premium pick. Would I drop 5 notches to take him? Yeah, I might.

his salary would be renegoitiated before the trade to minimize the cap hit etc.
who would you rather have
Howard for a 2nd rounder or
Pryce for moving down 5 spaces in the first round

Dropping those 5 spots per my value chart is equivalent to a 4th rounder.
Pryce is a year older than Howard but will not command a $16M SB, $35M
Contract......
6-5 295 he can be a real diverse player in a 3-4, 4-3 look.
