Default Wade Phillips Taking Medical Leave

Former Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips, now the defensive coordinator for the Houston Texans, will take a medical leave of absence and miss two games, the team has announced, according to multiple reports.

The cause of Phillips' concerns are unknown, but he is scheduled to undergo a procedure, according to the Houston Chronicle. Phillips will address the Houston media on Wednesday

Hope Wade's procedure is minor and he recovers quickly.

Backbone implantation surgery?
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

Really? He has his defense playing at a very high level a defense that was ranked at the bottom last season before he took over. All that talk about teams knowing what the call was seems to all of a sudden vanished because his unit is playing lights out and other teams are not figuring it out.

Nah. Not really. Just playing.

It was that or 'gastric band' or 'remove head from rectum'. And I was just trying to anticipate the board's response. You know I'm supportive of Wade's work as a coordinator.

I like Wade (not as coach of the Cowboys) and hope he's ok.

Hope it's minor, hope he recovers quickly, and I wish him well.

Must be something pretty important / pressing for him to take a couple of weeks off during the season.

Best wishes to him!
Answer for this off-season: Assemble an elite offense.

As one who's had a bypass, he'd miss more than a couple of games. If he's having surgery on his kidneys, it could be a whole lot of things. Here's hoping it goes well for him in the next while. He's a genuinely decent guy.
