FWST: Jenkins says communication problems, injuries hurting secondary play

If the Cowboys look like they’re having communication problems in the secondary, it’s because they are.

“We are doing too much back there,” Jenkins said. “Last week, we weren’t all the way there, anyway, because of injuries. I went out and Frank Walker had to go in. He was starting at one point, and Ball was starting at one point. Abe would give me a signal that Frank or Alan may not know or see.”

Asked if the Cowboys are still trying to get Rob Ryan’s defense down pat, Jenkins said it should be down pat by now.

“Don’t want to make an excuse, and we’re at the end of the season,” he said. “But I would say so. We were really going off the fly. ... We should have it down pat. But as you can tell if you look at the film, the communication is not all the way up.”
