8 new starters for sure, maybe as high as 16!!!
For sure are:
On Offense
Keyshawn for Galloway
Rogers for Young
Johnson for Lehr
Jones for Hambrick
McBriar or Flinn for Gowin
Other possible O. changes:
Bryant replaces Glenn as #2 WR
Peterman replaces Gurode at RG
Witten replaces Campbell as #1 TE
Anderson replaces Cason as 3rd down back
Crayton replaces Z. Smith returning kickoffs
N. Jones or J. Reeves replaces Galloway, etc. on punt returns
Lee replaces Bickerstaff, Cason as our backup RB
Barnes or Polite replace Martin as starting FB
For sure are:
On Defense
Wiley for Ekuban
Hunter for Edwards
Mitchell for Hunter in the nickel package
Other possible D. changes:
Stewart, Carson, or Brooks replace Blade
James replaces Coakley or Singleton
Williams replaces Woodson as SS, Davis becomes our FS
Parcells knows more about each players limitations and capabilities now and
we should see less mistakes this year.

You forgot Vinny/Hutch/Henson for QC at QB.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Agreed - this year could provide for some very interesting player changes at those positions. Which is why I don't want to get caught up into believing we're going to be the next Cinderella success story.

You had me until our safety tandem possibly became Davis/Williams. Woodson can still play.

Lehr losing his starting job si far from a guarented thing. Johnson just has never played a down in the NFL and hes coming off a major knee surgery.

3rd down back? Since when is that a starting job? backup running back a starting job? Also Martin wasn't the starting fullback, Anderson was. How can you count Hunter being moved up but then Mitchell at Nickel as a new starter? And Davis replacing Woodson? Wow reachin aren't we? I know its May and in the off season so its tough to think of things to post, but still settle

Lehr will lose it to either Johnson or DiNapoli.

Agreed - an awful lot of people are writing Johnson in as the starter based on what?

Imagine that! A Va Tech fan defending Lehr! Everything BP and JJ are saying points to AJ being 100% by camp. He was the starter by the 2nd week of camp last year. That's why!

they're doing that assuming he's the same fella that so casually displaced Lehr last year. It's a big assumption to make, but I admit I get maybe overly optimistic just because I want Johnson to be as good as I think he will.
You know better than many, the o-line is a soar subject and has been for far longer than you or I care to remember. And yet again we face uncertainty when the honorable Q steps up this season.
with Johnson, call it unbridled optimism.

Lehr will have a bit more trouble making the roster this season. Warhop and Tuna have worked to improve depth and youth in this critical roster spot.
OT locks are Adams and 2nd round pick Rogers.
OG locks are Gurode, Allen, and 3rd round pick Peterson.
C locks are DiNapoli and Johnson.
That's 7 of the probable 9 OL DALLAS will have on its final roster. At least 4 of the 5 starters are in that grouping.
So, the remaining roster spots are to be filled by these folks: Tucker, Vollers, Collins, Walter, Lehr. Those players who are versatile are more valuable as back-ups. So Walter (OT-C) and Lehr (OG-C) might get selected over a player like Vollers or Collins.
Tucker just might be the starting RT.
As usual, I can see Tuna keeping a no-name rookie free agent OL on the expanded practice squad for future depth consideration.

DiNapoli couldn't beat out Lehr last season. But you think he's a lock, and Lehr isn't?

I think Johnson will be our starting center. My only concern is whether his knee will be able to hold up, "if" it does prove to be strong enough to be able to withstand it...he "will" be our started at center.

Lehr isn't that great, but he will make the team. He can play guard and centre, so I see him as being valuable depth.
