Default ESPND: Will Dez Bryant ever learn?

Jan 17
11:15
AM CTBy Calvin Watkins

On Monday morning, a report on Black Sports Online said Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant was involved in a physical altercation at club LIV in Miami on Sunday night.

Miami police said Bryant was not arrested. Police also said if a high-profile personality is involved in an incident, protocol is for the office to be made aware of the issue regardless of whether there is a report.

Neither Bryant nor his agent Drew Rosenhaus returned phone calls or messages seeking comment.

This pattern with Bryant and trouble has been brewing for sometime.

When the lockout ended and the season began, Bryant started off on the wrong foot. He was late to the first team meeting of training camp. That's right, training camp.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett locked Bryant out of the meeting.

"It's just another step along the way of something that you learn from and hopefully those instances of not doing what you’re supposed to do become minimized and hopefully eliminated," wide receivers coach Jimmy Robinson said during the season. "It’s a work in progress."

Absent a "personal maturity" growth spurt, his tenure in Dallas will not end well.

It's definitely a concern. It won't be long where we're gonna have to make a decision on whether we commit long term to this guy or let his all world talent walk and hope he doesn't put it all together somewhere else.

We'll settle this with a good dust up.

No doubt he could use a "personal maturity" growth spurt, bb. Don't think I've seen his most loyal apologist argue otherwise.

Two shouting matches and some unpaid bills is no big deal too me.

Until he does things like Plax, Vick, Pacman, or Big Ben, I am not gonna really care.

This. He hasn't done anything criminal as long as he's getting it done on the field I could care less.

Bryant has an odd choice in mentors.

This has gone from arrest and charged with a crime, to merely arrested, to detained, to a physical altercation, to a verbal altercation as more time passes.

24-hour news cycle and social media are awesome.

Wow. I can only hope and pray that you're not emblematic of today's youth.

Then why do people leap to his defense when evidence of his immaturity is brought to light? And if that ESPN story is correct, his turdish behavior extends to Valley Ranch, not just Miami nightclubs.

There isn't any evidence that he's done anything criminal so try again.

You see, there are these things in life called "standards." Generally speaking, we as a society don't want to encourage people to try to get away with anything just short of a crime. Nor is that the kind of employee Jerry wants representing the Dallas Cowboys. If non-criminal behavior is irrelevant, why didn't Dez get into that first team meeting?

Dez only knows 3 routes on the field, but he sure no's alot more routes to get in trouble off the field .

What an ignorant comment. That may have been true at the start of the season, but he clearly improved over the course of the season. He's not a great route runner, but because of his spectacular athleticism he doesn't need to be.
