Default Can Bradie James be a factor this season?

with us cutting coakley does this automatically indicate that james will be starting this year? and if so, how effective do you think the 3rd year player from LSU can be? it also seems unlikely that will draft Derrick Johnson LB Texas due to the fact that he wasnt known as a blitzing linebacker at college. This seems to be one of the situations to look towards during training camp.

I think Bradie James has to show something this season or it could be his last in Dallas.

When he did play last year ( i can count on 1 hand how many plays Bill put him in for ) he laid some huge hits...If he gets the chance on a regular basis he will be great!

I think he can be effective. What was he? A 4th rd draft pick? I don't think most 4th rounders become starters right away.

He is a good athlete, but not so much that he can just go out and dominate from an athletic standpoint.

I think it comes down to how well he picks up the mental aspects of the game.

LA: Your so right, he can SMACK people!

BUT....Unless Parcells takes over on D, (3-4) its just another talented player being WASTED in a passive & predicable, awful "occupy & engage" never pressure the QB system of zimmy WUSS!

He has the physcial tools to be a factor, he just needs to make decisions faster and those decisions have to be the right decisions.

I think your exactly right about James play, he has not been quick in making his reads and reacting. He did more to keep himself out of the lineup than Parcells did.

He played more than five plays.

And when he was in there for extended action, he blew assignments against the run.

Now the big hits, those I can count on one hand.

I agree with most here. I think James needs to come around this year. Last year, James missed assignments consistently. I can remember at least 3 big plays we gave up in the running game that were direct results of Brady being out of position. You gotta show me something or your outta here. Those should be words to live by, for Brady.

bradie james is another player who brings to mind parcells' recollection of Tom Landry advice to a young headcoach.

to the affect that if a player doesn't show ya something within 3 years - they prolly never will and time to move on.

"make or break" year for james, IMO.

Not at all, he had mega hits - the only lb on our team that actually hit someone - in the bears game - he smoked Jones and Thomas twice and in the gmen game he actually made tiki go off after hitiing him.

Bottom line...he must become a factor this year. Either at WLB in 4-3...or MLB in 3-4...he must improve his reads and play to his ability. 3rd year...we all know what that means.

At this point, he's going to have to show something.

I actually think he's going to take a big step forward this year. After learning the schemes, and hopefully being allowed to attack more instead of always reacting, he could flourish.

I have never been particularly impressed with Bradie James and with his really poor performances last year I got really down on him. However, he was a 2nd year player last year and was seeing his first extensive action so I am trying to keep my negativity in check about him until I see him play again.

I do hope that we have a fallback plan in case he doesn't work out because I have seen nothing to indicate that he will ever work out as a starter. He just does not seem to have the instincts or intellectual capacity to know where the play will go so that he can get there consistently. Also, he seems to have no concept of how to take a pursuit angle on a ball carrier. How he made it to this level taking those angles is quite beyond me.

However, he plays Special Teams fairly well and he can really hit when he does get to the ball carrier. He has all of the physical tools so here is hoping he can get his head into the game and fulfill his potential.
