Default Ricky Williams is retiring

I wish him all the best, guy has had a tough life and I hope he finds happiness post football. Probably end up teaching yoga full time.

btw he reached 10,000 total yards this year, pretty good for being out of football for a few years

It is not the waitress's fault!

Loved him at Texas but lost a lot of respect for him during his time in the NFL.

He was an ok, solid, NFL player. Shame he wasted a few prime years by being away from the game but I wish him well.

He still can play. I bet if he was committed earlier and stayed in football, he could have hit 15,000 yards.

If you liked him more than that, and think he's more than a solid NFL player, that's fine. I just don't.

I definately think he could have been. But solid is where I'd have his career.

Man he had the talent to be an absolute beast in the NFL, and he was for a little while.

Hopefully he's able to find happiness in life outside of football, as the OP said. Solid career and a nice guy.

He was the Herschel Walker of the 2000s, except the blockbuster trade for him somehow paid no dividends for the Redskins.

Okay, but where is the impact. Emmitt was an impact back.

In 15 seasons Emmitt led the league in rushing 4 times(26.67% of the time), finished in the top 5 in rushing 7 times(46.67%), and finished in the top 10 in rushing 9 times(60%).

In 11 seasons Ricky led the league in rushing 1 time(9.09% of the time), finished in the top 5 in rushing 1 time(9.09%), and finished in the top 10 in rushing 4 times(36.36%). Two of those top ten finishes were right at the #10 spot.

And you can't dismiss the time Ricky missed due to his recreational drug use. That matters. Time away from the field is time not helping your team. He had a 13 year career that was shortened to 11 years due to his choices.

All and all he was an okay back. He had a brief moment(2002) when he was great, but for the most part he was just okay. And I am a fan of his. He just never put together more than an okay career.
