Sharper and Dat can be an excellent ILB duo in the 3-4.
But I still don't know what any team saw Thursday night that would have made them comfortable with waiting a round or two for the offensive lineman they wanted. ---Todd McShay
We just converted half our LB to DL. We have a 30m starting DL, it better be pretty friggin good.

If you want a free replacement for Dat when you trade him to the Saints for Howard, here he is!
isn't he an OLB?

This thread is solid proof that the Texans are going to be serious contenders for the drafting of UT LB Derrick Johnson...

cbssportsline.com said they brought him in for a workout... They are also saying that he definately could be a top five pick... Houston will probably take DJ.

Well if Johnson is a top 5 pick the Texans will have to trade up to get him.

Kind of silly to let Sharper go. He's probably the best player they've had on defense. They sign that nimwit Walker to some huge contract last year and he did nothing and let Sharper go? That makes no sense.

We are in the market for "dynamic" players that make "game-changing" plays. Screw position! Anyway, his contract demands are going to make it difficult to sign him.

But what a coup it would be to get Sharper, Howard, and two of the top defensive players in the first 42 picks?

I agree, obviously. But let's see what contract demands he makes before determining how difficult it'll be to sign him. We thought LaRoi would be expensive too and he signed relatively cheap. With that said...

Thank you to all donated to the Jason Witten Camp drive!

By "game chaing" plays, you mean the whopping 0 INT's and 6 sacks in the last two years combined. Yeah, he's a difference maker.

You do realize the Texans went and paid Morlon Greenwood a lot of money for a reason? And Dom Capers knows linebackers.

Do you have any stats on tackles for loss and tackles in general?

He had nice tackle totals with 134, but not many big plays. He was pretty much average.

Nicely done, but actually it was the 11 passes defensed 305 tackles (227 solo) and 6 forced fumbles the past two years that I was referring to . Our boy Dat has one more total tackle than Sharper has solo and 5 forced fumbles in his whole career. You know I'm a big fan of the forced fumble stat!

If we're going to run a 3-4, he'd be a perfect acquisition. If we're not, then I doubt we're interested.

Actually the Saints need one more. Forget signing him and trading Nguyen, my guess is the Saints could just keep Howard and sign Sharper themselves.
