I would have a problem trading down with DeCastro still on the board .

He's had a good career at Southern Cal.
After redshirting in 2008, he was used as a back-up defensive end in 2009 as a redshirt freshman and played in all 13 games, finishing with 24 tackles, 9.0 tackles for loss and a team-best 8.0 sacks, earning Freshman All-American honors. Perry became the full-time starter at defensive end in 2010 as a sophomore (9 starts), recording 25 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 4.0 sacks, 3 pass break ups, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.
Perry led the Pac-12 with 9.5 sacks this season. In three seasons, he's amassed 21 sacks. He's had more than one year's worth of production.
I am a Dallas Cowboys fan on a Dallas Cowboys forum. I will probably defend my team if I feel the need. If this in some way offends you, I invite you to avoid my posts.

I don't understand the NFP website. I see the "3.0" Mock Draft by following the link provided. But at the main page of the draft website( http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...partment.html), it says the Most Recent Mock is as follows:
NFP Inside Content. All Season.
TEAM NAME POS SCHOOL
1 IND Andrew Luck QB Stanford
2 WAS Robert Griffin III QB Baylor
3 MIN Matt Kalil OT Southern California
4 CLE Justin Blackmon WR Oklahoma State
5 TB Morris Claiborne CB Louisiana State
6 STL Michael Brockers DT Louisiana State
7 JAX Dre Kirkpatrick CB Alabama
8 CAR Devon Still DT Penn State
9 MIA Riley Reiff OT Iowa
10 BUF Jonathan Martin OT Stanford
11 KC David DeCastro OG Stanford -
12 SEA Quinton Coples DE North Carolina
13 ARI Nick Perry OLB Southern California +
14 DAL Peter Konz C Wisconsin
Is there a 4.0 Mock somewhere? Or is the above one a version prior to the 3.0 Mock?

As do I, but that depends on Spencer. Personally, Decastro is the safest and smartest pick. You won't have to worry about off field issues and he fills a hole that needs filling. Closest thing to a sure bet there is.

Just don't see how we could pass on kirkpatrick with our secondary being SO attrocious, as well as Newman's impending release.
Decastro's making the pro-bowl but it's a deep draft for O-linemen. Not so much for CB's
"Young man, when you throw a strike, Mr. Hornsby will let you know."
Bill Klem when a pitcher questioned a called ball to Rogers Hornsby.

This is true. Yet taking the best of a bad bunch isn't necessarily a smart move. This team does not need another guy that puts himself above the team. Kirkpatrick concerns me. Decastro doesn't.
We can't afford to miss in the first this year. So I am more confortable with the sure thing, even though he may not be the biggest need.

I like Jenkins over this kid as well. Still would want Decastro over both if this is how it falls.
Something Mayock said about this kid the other day is also sticking with me.
Dre Kirkpatrick: Mayock: Kirkpatrick may move to safety
According to NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock, some people in the league believe Alabama CB Dre Kirkpatrick may have to convert to safety "down the road."
Kirkpatrick was listed at 6-foot-3, 192 by Alabama. The corner-to-safety transition is often dictated or at least heavily influenced by forty times. "He's big and he's long. I'm not sure what he's going to run," Mayock said. "Some people might even think he could convert to safety down the road." Kirkpatrick is better known for his run-support talents than cover skills

The draft is pretty deep for corner, too. You got Claiborne, Kirkpatrick, Jenkins, Boykin, Minnefield, Gilmore, Hosley, Johnson, Hayward, Dennard, Norman, and Judie all ranked in the top 100 on most boards.
Safety, on the other hand, is a different story.
There's always more to the story.

i know our secondary sucks but DeCastro is a talent that you simply can't pass on. spend the rest of the draft taking the BPA on the secondary but dont let DeCastro go. Him and Smith will have our oline set for years and years to come.

I am not aware of any problems since 2009. Is there something since then that I am not aware of?
Unless we get a vet to take over, we need to fill the spot with someone and there isn't anyone else in the draft rated close.

Take out Claiborne because theres 0 % chance of us picking him. Now take out Gilmore, Dennard, and Hayward because they dont really fit our man coverage scheme. They will most likely have to go to zone teams in order to succeed. And I wouldn't take the gamble that any other of the other guys will last to the 3rd round where we sit at 82. Its possible 1 or 2 will, but it will be slim pickings for sure. If we dont sign a big FA CB I think we will handcuffed into taking a CB in either the 1st or 2nd round no matter what.

I keep hearing you alluding to the fact Kirkpatrick isn't a team guy. Where are you getting this?
