Default Sportingnews full 7 round mock

11 (11) Cowboys Troy Williamson* WR S. Carolina
With the first of two first-round picks, the Cowboys can get the missing piece in their attempt to re-create the QB-RB-WR Triplets magic of the '90s -- shifty Julius Jones and strong-armed Drew Bledsoe are the other two ingredients. Williamson would become Bledsoe's top deep threat and open things up for Jones, Jason Witten and Keyshawn Johnson underneath.

20 (20) Cowboys Marcus Spears DE LSU
(from Buffalo) Bill Parcells is a 3-4 defensive coach at heart and is looking to acquire the personnel to make the transition. Spears has the size (6-4, 307) and athleticism to play end in a two-gap scheme.

10 (42) Cowboys Lance Mitchell ILB Oklahoma
With its probable move to a 3-4 base defense, the team needs a big, physical inside 'backer like Mitchell.

8 (109) Cowboys Doug Nienhuis T Oregon St.

12 (148) Cowboys Ryan Moats* RB La. Tech

34 (208) Cowboys Matt Grootegoed OLB USC

35 (209) Cowboys Abraham Elimimian CB Hawaii

10 (224) Cowboys Justin Geisinger G Vandy

looks okay to me

not a big fan of Spears, but he's a perfect fit for the 3-4

I wouldn't say it sucks

I like Williamson, Spears fits a 3-4 defense...
Mitchell and Moats are players.
Elimimian is probably better than Frazier, Reeves and Jones
4 good players

If we're going to a 3-4, like they think we are, then I agree with the Spears pick and the Mitchell pick is okay... But if that's the case, why in the heck do they have us taking a player like Gootegoed who is barely big enough for OLB in a 4-3, much less a 3-4?

Doesn't make sense.

#11 is too high for Williamson... I do like the spears pick.

But at 11 they have Williamson over Clayton, Merriman, and James which i just don't agree with.

Spears was good value at 20... one pick over Pollack... it's a toss up.

I can't see their other rounds... but I'm not wild about their mock. I just dont' see a WR at #11 is all.

If you switch the first two picks than it makes sense.

Lance Mitchell in the early 2nd...awful

otherwise not bad...Moats and Grootegoed are playmakers...Grootegoed might can play S...probably wouldnt take Williamson at 11 but wont complain if we end up with him...

We still need a big time proven pass rusher for next season IMO... Darren Howard still fits that bill and I would like to see us do the deal with NO. I'm sick and tired of the Cowboys and their close to double digit effort in sacks... Ellis every year with 6 or 8 and zilch from the other side... WE NEED A 3RD DOWN BEAST OFF THE EDGE!!!!! Glover will be fine with his 6 to 8 every year... Plus, with better personnel on the DL, Glover and Ellis would do even better.

This draft does however look like quality depth and hopefully Spears would be just what the doctor ordered for the 3-4. I just never know about the Cowboys 2nd day picks panning out... It's been a few years since that happened... Thinking, thinking, thinking, blown fuse... oh well

I don't believe in team motivation. I believe in getting a team prepared so it knows it will have the necessary confidence
when it steps on a field and be prepared to play a good game... Tom Landry

Glad we fixed our FS problems with this draft too. Hmm.

I hate the Spears pick. With this draft we still have no one on the roster than can actually get to the quarterback. There has to be a DE-OLB whether it be Merriman, Pollock, Ware, Tuck, Cody or Roth I dont care but someone that has been in the same zipcode as a QB in the past.
I had an apartment and I had a neighbor, and whenever he would knock on my wall I knew he wanted me to turn my music down and that made me angry 'cause I like loud music... so when he knocked on the wall, I'd mess with his head. I'd say, "Go around! I cannot open the wall! I dunno if you have a doorknob on your side but over here there's nothin'. It's just flat."

I agree. Spears is over-rated. Just like Merriman.

Moates is a waste of a pick.

He is hurt all of the time and is a carbon copy of JJ.

Why do we need 2 JJs?

If the sporting news were the end all of mock draft I would be concerned. But since when have they been the voice of authority in this matter? It's just like any other mock draft.......it doesn't mean crap right now.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.
