Wouldn't surprise me to see us trade down and pick up some extra 2nd or 3rd rounders. Tons of value in the 2nd and 3rd rounds this year.

No clue how you came to this conclusion...I feel the EXACT opposite..I'm pretty much sold that we are going CB in rd 1...doesn't mean you are wrong, just don't feel the same way..if our cb is gone, I think we go OLB. I think OL isnt even an option, unless we go Konz.

I'm going to believe it's Kirkpatrick until I see something that sways me.
All I know is that Garrett is close with Saan, and Kirkpatrick is the kind of guy Rob Ryan would love. He's big, strong, fast enough, and a great tackler. I bet the coaches here would love to take a chance on him.

you see what I did there?
This is a classic case of Ye Olde Smokescreene. I agree with you...I think we're probably fairly interested in Jenkins at #14, as well as DeCastro. But if DeCastro is gone I still think the Cowboys would have to consider trading down to increase value, in my own opinion. They can still draft Cordy Glenn and pick up some very solid CBs in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

The only way it's Kirkpatrick is if we're telling Elam we're done and we plan to play him at SS.
Kirkpatrick is good, and is a solid tackler, but he's a safety if I've ever seen one. Not very fluid and doesn't have the speed you need at CB.
His combine could prove otherwise...but I think people will be disappointed with his results next week.

Why let that be known. Wouldn't it be better if you let it be known your inlove with Jenkins so a team would want to trade up to get him and hopefully lets a player you like fall.

The team didn't call a press conference to announce this. These guys have sources in the personnel department or, in Galloway's case, likely someone even higher up the chain.
It is funny how we wouldn't "because of Garrett" when we haven't done this for many years now, though.

also like how sources have reported before when teams did the opposite all the time on draft day. All I'm saying this could be true as much as it could be a smokescreen.
So I guess Kirkpatrick will also be off the board if this is about drugs.

Jenkins is as talented a CB as any in the draft, if not more.

You can't believe anything a GM or team is saying about any draft prospect until the draft is over.

Agreed. If Jerry said he was number one cornerback on our board I would assume we were not drafting him for sure. Everyone lies and changes their mind 10 times between now and the draft.
Dont believe anything anyone says at this point. This early in the process they almost have to be in prison to be removed from their board. And if he ran a 4.2 someone would draft him in the first round right out of prison actually.

Agree smoke is everywhere.
HOWEVER I would like the name of any player in the last 10 years that had drug concerns that the Boys drafted.
And I have to believe that Garrett does not want any either. What you did once or twice before you can do again.

As regards Glenn, Red Ball has not seriously looked at any large O lineman since he took over.
He wants guys of at most 315 and not many of them. 310 is about what he seems to be interested in.
So a 350 lb guard? Nah. especially with our last experience with a 350 lb guard.

The problem with this statement is there were probably only a very very few players with drug concerns that were also considered ELITE and available when they picked. Which sort of takes care of their decision making process most of the time. I think the interview process and background checks that come during the combine and after are going to settle this question and Im just not convinced the guy is off everyones draft boards at this time. If he runs a cooking 40 time at the combine as many seem to think he will, and he aces his interviews I think he will go top 10 to 15 easily.
Lots of kids do stupid things in College. He seems to PERHAPS of learned from his mistakes. I would want to have a LONG talk with this kid and do my background checks with coachs etc... but right now he would be the number two cornerback on my board and actually very close to number one depending on the scheme you run.
The combine will be the world to this kid. He could ace a top pick or tumble badly.
