OMG I will vomit if we take Brockers in the 1'st.
i
He was supposed to be 305 and run a 4.9. He shows up at 325 and ran a 5.3

***??? He had two sacks last year! I think he might be a great run stuffing DT in a 4-3. If you want SACKS you are not making him into a 3-4 end that is running a mid 5.3 40. He sucked in almost every friggin drill at the combine. What the hell are we going to do with him? Fatten him up to 350 lbs and try and make a 6'5" nose tackle out of him and pray a lot?

I can list a DOZEN people still on the board I would take over Brockers at 14. Why anyone thinks he is a fit here is just crazy.

Here is a typical Brockers summary "Brockers was clocked at an alarmingly slow 5.36 seconds in the 40-yard dash. This time was the third worst among the 49 defensive linemen tested in Indianapolis this year. The only two defensive linemen with a time more than a hundredth of a second slower than Brockers were Missouri's Dominique Hamilton and Southern Cal's Christian Tupou. As a point of comparison, Brockers is currently rated as NFLDraftScout.com's No. 8 rated prospect overall. Hamilton and Tupou are rated 360th and 378th, respectively.

Think the 40-yard dash time is an anomoly? Think again. Brockers finished among the worst in defensive linemen tested in the vertical jump (26.5"), broad jump (105") and short shuttle (4.81), as well.

Brockers elected to leave LSU with two years of college eligibility remaining. While his statistics were less than jaw-dropping (47 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks)"

That's sort of the thing with me regarding Brockers. Had he tested-out as just average or mediocre, I'd probably give him the benefit of the doubt. He didn't though. His numbers across the board were all poor. I've been waiting to hear something come out regarding an injury or something from his handlers for damage control. You couple that with ho-hum production at LSU and you have you have yourself a major head-scratcher as to what people are seeing.

That would be a sorry first round in my humble opinion.

Brockers is reportedly falling from interviews and is seen as only a run down player.

According to Mayock Poe is not just a workout warrior, he said if you put on the tape he was the Memphis Dline. He also said he's a top 10 guy

We're going to get a player at 14. Brockers isn't high on my list, but you can't be too bummed if he ends up dropping and our scouts like him. He was a consensus top-10 pick not too long ago.
When asked whether Jason Garrett is the right head coach for this team: "I don't think there is anyone else that could. I think he is an unbelievable coach. We've responded to him and he has made us better football players, better people. If you watch us I think we play with a certain relentless spirit." --Sean Lee

It's worth noting that Mayock had Poe in his Top 5 DT's as as far back as January.

A lot of people are acting like Poe just showed up out of nowhere yet he was considered a first rounder before the combine.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

yep I agree, I do not want Brockers.
Cox is the only 3-4 DE I want at 14.

Mayock, Kiper, McShay, Bunting... all have Dallas doing different things and all have DeCastro falling past us.

I'd really dislike Barron at 14 but can live with any of the other picks. Brockers and Poe are both good football players that weigh well over 300 pounds. It is hilarious to me that people actually post about the 40 time of a 325 pound guy like it is a huge concern.

It IS a huge concern if you need a pressure player off the edge. He finished at the BOTTOM of literally every test except height/weight.

You combine that with TWO friggin sacks last year and you would have to be pretty slow not to see thats a problem if you want a 3-4 end that can get a little pressure on the quarterback. I just no longer view him as anything but a 4-3 DT. He may be stout at that but thats NOT what we need.

He is to tall to be a prototypical NT even if he added another 25 lbs and to slow to be an end. the guy has zero history of being able to get to the quarterback. His entire rating was based on "potential" as no one knew what he was going to run. Well he ran like a friggin turtle. If all your drafting a guy on is potential I dont want a body builder guy that was just terrible at every friggin drill he ran and had TWO sacks last year. If I am drafting potential for a 3-4 I was a super fast guy that may need to add 10 to 15 lbs. You cant teach fast. You have it or you dont and Brockers doesnt.

That matches what I mentioned earlier in this thread, though your comment has more bite.
