Longshot didn't come thru.
This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

Where are they getting the money to keep Colston, acquire Grubbs, and resign Brees?

Saints are just a very solid org. Lose Nicks, get Grubbs cheaper.

We didn't even bring him in. Instead we're sniffing around all these rejects once again, going cheap on the oline. It's gonna bite us in that ***, of that I have no doubt. Especially if we pass on DeCastro, because I have absolutely zero faith in our ability to draft linemen past the 1st round.
If the lineman isn't an obvious talent, we have almost no ability to evaluate them.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

I called this one yesterday. No way they were going to lose Nicks and not replace him with someone who could keep Brees' jersey clean.
Honestly, I'd rather have Myers or Wells at C at this point than another G.

He signed for 36 million for five years with 10 million signing bonus and 16 million guaranteed according to ESPN. That is not bad.

I'm thinking, possibly, that the idea might be to upgrade at Center and then draft DeCastro or Glenn in the first round?
Then you've more than addressed the O-line as well as upgraded the secondary, added depth to the O-line, and if we get Connor added some depth into the ILB position as well.
I think we should wait and see how all of FA plays out, and where it leaves us going into the draft, before we'll have a real good idea of what the plans are for the first round.

Grubbs is nowhere near as good as Nicks; Brees will find that out the hard way

$7 mil a year?!? It's WAY more than I want to pay for a Guard when you have other interior O-line problems. I'd rather get a better than average guy at G and then get one of the better FA centers. You could do both with this kind of money.
