Default Bud Adams Must Think He is Jinxed

Got the Houston Oilers AFL franchise the same year as Clint Murchison got the Cowboys.

He wanted to hire Tom Landry and made him an offer first, but Landry opted to stay in the NFL. Note that Landry had no reservation about rival leagues. Upon returning from WWII he joined the New York Yankees of the All America Football Conference before landing with the Giants.

In Texas his Oilers teams constantly took a back seat to the more popular Cowboys despite the fact that for a long time he had the premier stadium in all of sports.

When he was unsuccessful in securing a new stadium in Houston he took his team to Nashville.

His only shot at a Super Bowl title and Lombardi Trophy ended 1 yard shy of the end zone.

Now he loses out on Tennessee's favorite college athlete and a chance to stick it to the rival team that let him go.

Sure, luck means a lot in football. Not having a good quarterback is bad luck. ~ Don Shula

I did like the fact that after leaving Houston that Bud's team made it to the SB after years of being close but choking they made it but it would be in Tenn and not Houston.
