Pretty much this.

Story is simply that Alfonzo was at a club, and he ran into the normal group of guys who try to push your buttons because of who you are. Alfonzo tried walking away, but the guys kept following and pushing his buttons. Alfonzo finally snapped, went after the guy. Cops tried to break it up, but Alfonzo had a scuffle with multiple cops as well, just not the one cop he was charged with.

If you have been to the bar, and haven't had a fight with a loud mouth there, then you are lucky. But going after a cop? A guy with alot of talent just cost himself ALOT of money.

What is wrong with these kids! I would return punts naked in December in Buffalo for a shot at one down in the NFL.
... Now that's what I call wanting it badly. LOLOL!!!

That's crazy, man. I literally just told my ex (who went to Nebraska), the exact same thing. No way I'm messing up that opportunity.

I'm gonna be the contrarian and all BS on a 3rd degree assault charge on the police. You could brush by a cop on your way down a crowded street and get a charge like that if the cop is in a bad mood.

I have no interest in Dennard as a prospect, but something doesn't sound right about this one.
We need wins, and that's all we need. I don't give a damn about anyone on this roster over wins. I'd trade Ware, Lee and Dez if it meant more wins.

Dude, the report says he pushed a cop and then punched the guy in the face before 4 other police officers wrestled him to the ground.

Doesnt sound like he brushed shoulders with a cop in a bad mood, does it?
As the official head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is 16-16............"Its a Process of stacking good days"

2013 Prediction: "NO PLAYOFFS"

Pretty sure this will take him off our board all together, dont see Garrett drafting somebody that punched a cop.

"The guy" meaning who he was fighting or the cop? It sounds to me like he was fighting like an idiot and the cop tried to break it up and got caught in the action, I doubt he even realized it was a cop trying to stop him. I'm not saying he isn't a dummy, I'm saying he wasn't in there swinging on uniformed officers.

I am sure the cops announced their presence.....but in the heat of the moment, sometimes you are oblivious to outside noises (by outside, I mean noises not directly involved with the altercation).....

At any rate, the fact that he was out at a bar, got into a fight, and then assaulted a police officer (directly or indirectly) just days before the NFL Draft (what he has been working towards his whole life) leads me to this conclusion.......and thank you Ron White for this one...

YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!!!

Still not a smart idea to be out on the town a week before the draft, but don't go around thinking he's just punching cops for the fun of it.

I think he's a day three prospect at best.

or perhaps he was involved in the fight.....either way, that isn't the point. Why is he even at a bar just a week before the draft? go to the store, grab a few cold ones and go back home and chill with your boys or your girl. stay away from bars, clubs, adult clubs, and even late night eateries until after you are drafted. Once you are drafted, and especially once you signed that first contract, then make stupid decisions......but don't do it before you get paid.....cause all it will do is cost you money with your first contract.

peacemaker or not.....he got involved in the altercation and he assaulted a cop.....once the altercation broke out, he should have tucked tail and ran for the door....call the cops on the way out, but don't look back. he had too much to lose and too little to gain by staying there and handling it the way he did.

Default Huskers' Alfonzo Dennard arrested

Huskers' Alfonzo Dennard arrested

By Adam Rittenberg | ESPN.com
Updated: April 21, 2012, 11:21 PM ET

Nebraska Cornhuskers cornerback Alfonzo Dennard was arrested early Saturday on suspicion of assaulting a police officer, just days before he's expected to be selected in the NFL draft.

According to local reports, Lincoln police said Dennard was fighting a man outside a downtown bar when they tried to take him into custody.

Dennard allegedly pushed and punched an officer in the face, and police say it took four officers to take him into custody.
