Meh....

Jared Crick was there.... Better, More established, more polished, against better competition...

Tank Carder was there... Not a pass rusher but more explosive, always around the ball and more of an every down playmaker.....

Not excited at all about this pick....

I can't even find a highlight reel and NFLN hasn't even mentioned that Dallas picked him yet... what does that tell you??????????? No one cares..

He and Butler should solve depth problems at OLB...and he should improve dramatically over this next season. Both on the field and in conditioning.
There's no right way to do the wrong thing.

To compete for the playoffs, Dallas has to improve here: Only four sacks against Eli Manning over the past six games!

Here, this is what NFL.com is saying about the pick:

Pick Analysis: Bucky Brooks' take: Wilber is a raw edge rusher with good first-step quickness and length. He flashes some rush skills, but will make his immediate contributions as a special teams maven.

Maybe they do care.
"Can we get Drew Bledsoe back out here just for a week, so you guys can fall back in love with Tony? Let's sign Drew Bledsoe back for a week. Because sometimes when you have a pretty girl for so long, you forget how pretty she is. But when you put an ugly girl next to her, 'Oh, no, I'm really doing well.' And maybe we need to bring Drew back, so we can back to 'Oh, no, we're really doing well.'"

Very good athlete. Solid run defender — can play off blocks and string plays down to the sideline. Crashes the line and has surprising strength to set the edge. Solid technician — keeps his outside arm free. Good take-off speed. Can outquick blockers to the point and split the double team. Has lined up on both sides and is athletic enough to fall back into coverage and man short areas. Productive starter with scheme diversity.

I was thinking this. NFL.com called him a very quick twitched player.

It's hard to read scouting reports and come away with a positive feeling a lot of times,,, the negatives can sound so bad you wonder why the guy got picked at all. The fact that Ryan was fist-bumping after the pick makes you think there is reason for optimism though.

I really like the pick. I think he'll be a solid player for us.

JG just told Wilber he'll be playing behind Spencer. So, he'll be an OLB for us.

I guess this points towards a multi year contract for Spencer?

Read my post. I said highlight reels and I said NFLN (NFL Network). I found scouting reports... You can find those everywhere. I'm talking about live coverage on tv... They haven't even talked about him or shown any highlight reels. I looked all over the net and youtube. No highlight reels.... Usually if it is a pick that stands out, they show a few clips.

And the Texans just took Crick.... Wow! You think they know something about good defensive players. If our heads weren't up our azzes, we would have taken that guy.... not Wilbur~!

Didn't Crick have medical issues?

Sorry but no.

This is a team who is battling several major injuries to
key players including Pro Bowl talents like Lee, Austin, Jenkins, Murray,
Carter and Ratliff. Other key starters missing include Costa, Smith, Church and
Coleman. That is 11 key players - that's half the starting lineup. Yet we still went 8-8.

He'll be when they discover they have no one to replace him with. Who would've thought they'd have to pay him nearly 9 million dollars for one year, but it happened.

Bob McGinn (who had the best Top 100 last year) ranked Wilber in his top 100 players. Here's his report from anonymous NFL scouts --

8. KYLE WILBER, Wake Forest (6-4, 245, 4.71, 3-4) - Overcame a traumatic home situation as a youth. "We had him in for a visit," one scout said. "He's the best kid I've interviewed in 15 years." Generally stood up in the Demon Deacons' unconventional defense that's a cross between a 4-3 and 3-4. "Boy, he's a good-looking athlete," another scout said. "He can run and really close. I thought he was more finesse than power. I wouldn't question his toughness but I kind of wanted him to let loose a little more in that regard. He will be very attractive to 3-4 teams." Finished with 195 tackles (351/2 for loss), 131/2 sacks and nine "big" plays in 43 games (36 starts). Out of Apopka, Fla. "He's a good project," a third scout said. "He's kind of reminiscent of (Jeremy) Thompson a few years ago. He never panned out, for whatever reason."

Here are Wilber's measureables compared to other OLB prospects. The list is sorted by 3-cone time.
